Maybe a remaster of FFXI or another MMORPG (FFXVI)? Who knows?

When its going to be another online FF, I hope they will make it possible to transfer our characters into the new game.

I dont think they will let FFXIV bleed out, because its the most money generating game so far (if I m not mistaken).

If it was possible, then it'd mean it's basically the same game. At that point there would be zero reason to even make it. So no...there'd be no transfer.

It's not. I'm pretty sure that the item mall heavy mobile games generate more revenue at a lower upkeep cost. In comparison to this game, they have far more incentive for spending money on them. You can literally buy power there. And game time costs exponentially more there than here (since they use the energy system...).

Actually there has been a little speculation in the FFXI forums to the fact their was just announcement in FFXI for the 20 anniversary which is around 3 years out. In it they also talk about fiscal year.

20 anniversary could be the last year but pure speculation. Big event for the last year?
Makes sense it is the perfect time 20 years.
So if it were true they would need another MMO. Also FFXIV would be getting a little old by that time too. Maybe FFXIV will be still going strong but a company needs to be prepared. MMO business has been big business for SE and they can not afford to let it slip away.

To me it also does not mean Yoshi P is leaving FFXIV, could just be overseeing it as a start up and helping it off the ground.

I really feel that there will be another MMO in the works even if it has nothing to do with Yoshi P or if it has nothing to do with FFXI end of life.

If they do I do not think it will be as far out as FFXI and somewhere in the middle of FFXIV and FFXI.

I do not think we will ever see as hardcore as FFXI was but more closer to what it is now which is way closer to FFXIV .

I assume SqE/their Investors want a F2P or 60 Euro B2P MMO, to completly go with the FF MMO Franchise into "Games as a Service".
Nobody can deny that AAA makes a shit ton of Money with that concept while at the same time being able to reduce the Budget to near abysmal Levels.
And in the end SqE is a AAA Publisher and their Investors could be heavily interessted into this Trend or threaten them to invest into other Publishers who develop such Games, as EA, Activision or Ubisoft.
We always have to keep in mind, that the Investors do not care for a second about the Industry.

After FF15 and the Problems of the Game as a GaS Game my guess is, that they move back to make another GaS MMO instead of a Singleplayer focused Game with GaS Elements.
And in Japan FF is still the less popular Franchise compared to Dragon Quest, so they are more likely to go for such Risk with the FF Franchise.

The thing is...will it be good or bad...nobody knows.
Games like R6Siege are not bad as a GaS Concept, while Games like Destiny, Anthem and F76 show the worst of GaS.
