Adding my +1 for the cause. We need male Viera and female Hrothgar. I want to keep that unshaken belief that FFXIV devs listen to community and the feedback. No to gender locking - yes to male Viera. It worked with male Miqo'te, it will work here.

Please give me male viera. I was waiting for them since before stormblood was announced!
Why are you wasting your precious time here, then? You're being just as insane as us. Even more, because you're wasting your time reading people complaining about something you don't care about.

+1 to this thread. Please add male Viera and female Hrothgar!
You're accusing a company of being homophobic because they decided to stick with the lore and not implement male vierra.... but somehow you glossed over the fact that there are ONLY male Hrothgar?Give us male Viera and then I'll start paying my sub again. This hurt and it hurt bad. This is a ragequit moment for me. Goodbye until they add male Viera. This is homophobic. Still afraid of adding male bunnies huh? Stop the pathetic excuses and start listening to the people who play this game.
Seems pretty balanced to me. Either add males and females for both, or leave it the way it is.
So you're here just to be smug then? If this is important to some people it doesn't mean that they don't have "real problems" in the "real world".
Get over yourself.

I agree on the Ronso part, I believe the decision to only have males was due to a resource issue combined with the fact that had viera WAY WAY WAY more people asking for it to be made a playable race and they chose the female gender as it respects the franchise spirit. Not to mention if they gave Hrothgar both genders and Viera only 1 the controversy would be even more worse than it is now. I think this decision was made to keep fans happy, respect the lore and not drive the dev team insane

To derail the point of the thread so we spend more time arguing about wasting time than we do giving feedback to the dev and letting them know that the idea of no genderlocks is something a vast group of players want for this game.
I feel like if the Miqo'te are allowed to have males now, and the Roedygan are allowed to have Females. We should work on changing the Lore for Viera men. This isn't FF12, this isn't tactics, this is Eorzea, we should be allowed to have a special case for non-gender locks, in the form of a similar yet completely different race. Male and female Viera pretty much have zero contact with each other beyond required relations for breeding and trade from what I can see, why are they limited to the forest? There is nothing about them that says in Eorzea males can't catch wanderlust like the rest of us.
Also it might make things more interesting in the RP sector if the default cultural nature of male Viera is basically saiyan warriors....no really when I read the wiki statement "The male viera are secretive, vicious, skilled hunters and are so well adapted to living in viera forests no one aside from female viera has ever seen one. " I got in my head that they probably think a lot like Vegeta. It might not be a terrible idea to introduce a male race that is wholly aggressive in their belief that they are truly the greatest hunters in all existence.

Just here to voice my support for unlocking the gender locks.
I would love male Viera and hoped to race change as soon as they came out. I was disappointed that it isn't part of this expansion.
