Male Viera as a playable character! show your support

I really don't get why some people want buff male viera when we already have highlander, au ra, roegadyn, and now hrothgar.

Because saying either of those would scratch the same itch as a buff male Viera is being really reductive in what races offer. It's focusing on the one aspect of them and ignoring the overall package. The aesthetics themselves overall are different, before we get into the animations and mannerism, and of course, for those of us who care for that sort of thing, attached lore.
It's part of why when I made one of my alts, I wanted her to be a fem Au Ra but ended up going with a fem Miqo'te. They both fit the niche of petite waifus but they're not interchangeable. Playing one is a vastly different experience to playing the other.

When you ask for buff viera, you alienate the people who want smaller viera, and when you ask for small viera, you do the same to the people who want them buff. So instead of asking for buff or small, why not go with the best in-between option that'll have the most people satisfied? I genuinely don't think people will be so disappointed if we got omega m's body type for male viera

People who want Feol would not be happy with Omega M. People who want buffier Viera would not be happy with Omega M. I mean if that's what we ended up getting I'd still play it and break that muscle slider on max, but I care very little for the aesthetic of a male Elezen, and if they replicate it into male Viera it would dampen some of my enjoyment of the race.
They won't be able to please everyone, they know that. The very idea of a 'compromise' means that if people will be ok with it, they won't be as satisfied as they could've been with anything else. Let's not pretend otherwise.

Instead of fighting over big or small, we should all collectively support this body type.

Your bias is showing. If anything, so far I've seen more support for the artworks that showecased beefier bunnies. All we can do is each show support for what we prefer, and let the devs decide which to go with.

I really think it should be in the OP front and center, because I think it's a body type most people can get behind. A lot of the people in this thread seem to like omega m's body type, and it seems like this body type has good reception in the japanese forums too.

As was brought up in the thread before, this is a thread first and foremost about the inclusion of male Viera in the game, period. You should not show preference for any specific design in the op, both because it would show an inaccurate image of what people in the thread feel like to the devs, as well as perhaps ward away people who want to support male Viera, but "not like that"

Your bias is showing. If anything, so far I've seen more support for the artworks that showecased beefier bunnies. All we can do is each show support for what we prefer, and let the devs decide which to go with.

I do have my preferences too and would like Viera to be certain type, but I dont think (speaking in general) that the pro-male Viera hast to start fighting each other. Everyone wants Viera to be a certain way, even the JP community has different opinions on this matter. If male buns would really end up bulky as you said, I wouldnt call them elegant or slim (Yoshi's statement).
Beside if the larger community thinks about bulky male Viera, I doubt anyone would call them sexist? This whole debacle only happened because they think the dev team is against feminine/beautiful/bishounen males?

I can only speak for myself, but if mViera truly end up beefcakes, I wont touch them. But I still would not support genderlocks.

Also I really hope they make an official statement this week. It is getting quite annoying that they seem to have taken 6 days to write a letter saying: there will be genderlock removal

I personally would be dissatisfied with such a general announcement, and they would be wrong to release it without more details like at least a time frame. As Yoshida said and we're all aware of it, it's a massive undertaking. They'd need to allocate resources, be it from the team itself or backups SE would allocate, and those things take time to plan out internally, all the more so if they truly will receive outside help. And to get that, it means they need to properly put together all the feedback, all the data from people who already cancelled their preorders and their subscriptions, so they can come to SE higherups and say "look, this is already costing us money, help us fight this".

I should hope we'll get a statement along those lines during April, certainly before ShB itself is released. It would make sense for them to do so because then they can still enjoy some extra orders, be it from people rebuying it or just people who waited until after the Fanfests and now would think it's 'safe' enough to buy.
But anything less than that would be irresponsible of them.

I think you are right. Maybe they are getting help and if they let time run a bit more, more people unsubscribe and such, they might get enough help so they can remove genderlock before launch (SE has enough employees to do it if they want to). Thanks for pointing it out to me! ^^

Personally, I really don't like the chest hair. I have a feeling SE is going to add male viera with the fur, though. If they do, I really hope there's an option to remove it completely, or a slider to at least minimize it.
