Male Viera as a playable character! show your support

I'm just here to provide an outsider's view on how insane and inane this whole thing appears to those of us who deal with real issues in the real world as part of our personal or work lives.

But people come here to escape the real world. Btw I'm 33, I work full time, have a love life. I deal with real-world situations all the time. And this topic doesn't sound ridiculous to me; I am for the majority of those who want male Viera and Female Hrothgar. You just sound salty. You don't have any right to call ANYONE pathetic... it's just rude, disrespectful, ignorant and inconsiderate. If you have actual real-life issues, go deal with those instead of being here.

and yet I don't see people kicking up nearly as much fuss over not having female Hrothgar. Seems like people are just upset they aren't getting their bunnybois and forgetting there are other people with different opinions out there. Then you have professional victims coming in and claiming this is all dog-whistling on SE's part.

Alot of men play video games, and alot of men are interantly homophobic to some degree (whether they admit it or not). If they are "uncomfortable" with the idea of a game allowing people to play "cute bunny bois", that shows they have a issue with men not fitting a their masculine ideals.

Most people who care about male veira do not necessarily want to play an over-sexualized character (what alot of the anti-male viera crowd seems to fear).

All of this ignores that all viera are a trainwreck due to how sexualized the females are (more so than ANY other race in ffxiv)

As well about the female hrothgar part - this is the male viera thread. There is a female hrothgar thread.

If giving the pepole the race they wanted most was the problem they should have left the Ronso (and FFX) out of matters and just done both genders of the Viera.

As to that 'lore' it was never anything more then an excuse not to make straight male gamers uncomfortably by clouding their focus on the bodies of the female Viera with something they might not want to see. The only reason the Viera where all female to begin with was to make it easier to use them for fanserivce, and the 'males live separate' was an excuse. The same is true of the Miqo'te in FFXIV.

Please implement male Viera/female Hrothgar sometime! I've been Au Ra male since Heavensward and wanted to fantasia over to Viera male because it seemed very likely when Viera were announced (and given the concept art of the race for HW). It was very disappointing to hear races would be gender locked again after 1.0. I hope the dev team please reconsiders.

Who said male Viera are "cute bunny boys"? I would prefer sexy ones like their females. And being uncomfortable is not homophobic, it's like saying playing a Lalafell is pedophilic. Your preferences in a video game does not relate to your preferences in the real world. No one has to play a race that's why saying "I don't want xyz" in my game is stupid as well. You don't have to chose said race. I don't like Hrothgar, yet I'm totally fine with them in the game and am in favor of female ones.

Just lending my support for male Viera here. I hope everyone that wanted to play as one get to in the not so distant future (and hopefully at some point during the expansion).

In the year of 2019 genderlocking (and even racelocking and classlocking) should be thrown out with the rest of the bad game design choices from the past.

If it was a matter of running out of time or running into a lot of technical and animation issues for the two races, that's one thing, but the least we could be told is that the excluded gender will come out at a later date when it has met their standards. A lot of people who support the choice use the lore as an example and everyone who doesn't has made the argument a thousand times that lore has always taken a backseat. Male Miqo'te, White Mages, Dark Knights, etc.

While the developers of FFXIV have given me no real reason to have concern for this, other games and their developers have. Often slowly taking bits and pieces out of a core game and then selling it to you later on through their game stores. I for one am a little concerned that the genderlocking is only temporary, just to find out a month or two months after the DLC launch that you can get male viera and the female hrothgar through the store by dropping another $10, $15, $20 or so on it. Like I said FFXIV SPECIFICALLY, has never give me a reason to think this would happen in their game but it does happen in other games and no developer is above industry influence and trends.

We got male Miqo’te and female Roe’s because Yoshi P. Said he hated genderlocking and now to see this is disheartening. I can’t understand what people mean by wanting to see ‘something new’ done with the races, genderlocking is not a new concept at all and I think most people would like a choice rather than invasive lore determining how you choose to play said game. I believe even the players of BDO hate it just as much as we do - but at least they have the excuse of going into it knowing it well beforehand.


TL;DR; I SUPPORT BUFF CAT GIRLS AND SLEEK BUNNY BOIS. :3
