I would love to see playable bunny boys in the game. Even if not available until a later 5.X time, would be super welcomed!

I know the lore states Male Vieras are rare but weren't the male Miqo'te's the same deal?
If we have male Miqo'te's, then surely male Viera's should be included as well?
I'd love to Fantasia in to male Viera.
Why else would you care about the specific gender of a specific race that has had the specific specificity of being represented by only one gender for nearly two decades
I don't understand this, tbh.

Male Miqote are fewer than females but are still part of their society.
Male Vieras are extremely rare and not a part of their society.
I've loved Viera since Final Fantasy Tactics advanced and I've always wanted to see the males.
Please make the dream come true! I know so many people that wanted to play male Viera, even if I don't think I'd change, I want them in the game.
The expense of cutting out the chance of Female Ronso and never getting to see Male Viera is too high. Genderlocking is -never- ok.
This right here. I've wanted Viera in the game since I started playing. None of it was for sexual reasons. They're my favorite FF race. FFT and FFXII are WHY I love Eorzea. I started playing because Eorzea reminded me of Ivalice.

Ever thought about people play Final Fantasy XIV cause of the previous titles which involved Viera?
We are talking about a race we have yet to discover, a mystery. Why do you else think we have such a huge influx of new forum users?
Ofcourse they can add them in any future ivalice game, but while they have the chance to do it now why later?
You're forgetting male moonkeepers were said to be territorial, extremely antisocial and preferred to remain alone in the forest, on top of male children being rarely born, and thats why male moonkeepers weren't available in 1.0.Yes.
That's the lore.
They just do not go outside the forest and see it as sacrilege to even be seen, hence why they were never shown in ANY of the Ivalice games. Any mention of them is basically legend or hearsay.
This is much different than "There are very few Male Miqo'te".
Again, this is not worth your RP.
Let Viera be Viera.
Lore reasons aside, again, I don't think the XIV team will lock in a design for a creature that doesn't belong to them.
Female Viera are exactly as they are in Ivalice, it follows that any look the hypotetical males get would be THE Male Viera design.
There might be an exception if Akihiko Yoshida himself decides to work with the XIV team.
When people are comparing viera to miqo'te lore they're doing it with moonkeepers, not the seekers that SE likes to keep as the posterchild for miqo'te.
+1 This Thread has my signature. I was over the moon at the Viera announcement however my excitement took a huge hit when Male Viera were dropped and Hrothgar where revealed instead.
I'm shocked to see Ronso in the game as they are a personal favorite however i feel that what we have been shown of them is a step backwards compared to previous iteration. [There too Butch and appear flatfooted compared to there FFX counterparts] hopefully this personal reception will change more when I've seen more.
I'm not alone in my substantial interest in removing gender-locking this is an archaic feature from MMO's decades old we've come to far to regress especially in a Triple A title.
Its sad to see the community respond with such toxicity, especially when FFXIV in its current iteration wouldn't even exist where it not for Yoshida and his team.
[THANK YOU]
However, I also found myself extremely upset by the omission of Male Viera, for me they have the potential to be something truly unique.
As previously stated above this hearkened back to the poor community relationship seen with other industry titans and left me reeling as, FFXIV has for me has been a beacon of light in the mire that the MMO market has become, Offering transparency and innovation where others failed.
In terms of Lore, that has been broken multiple times and the game has a multitude of potentially immersion breaking aesthetics and crossovers it confuses me that with the advent of 1.0 We're now backtracking an implementing a feature Yoshida identified as a problem and fixed over 6 years ago.
Ultimately I really hope the rest of the community seizes this opportunity to confer with the developers and improve upon FFXIV rather than continuing to spout toxicity towards one of the few companies currently demonstrating a willingness to Listen and Learn, this is a rare opportunity don't squander it.
ALSO GIEF FEOL OR IVALICIAN MOOGLES WE NEEDS ANOTHER CUTE RACE A MID WAY Between Lalafell and the other Races.

As a player with more than 3500 hours in this game, honestly I don’t care if it breaks the lore. I enjoy this game’s mechanics, community, and other playable content. There are a lot of other things in the game that “breaks” the lore. For those that think male viera breaks the lore, they can simply choose to make a non-male viera character? Since all the important cutscenes are single player anyways. Please do not take away other people’s happiness for your own pleasure and “immersion”.
