Well, that was an interesting if disheartening read.

the studio wants to consider feedback first before making any announcements

Breakdown of the feedback:
1. Genderlocks are bad
2. Using lore to justify the genderlock is bad
3. Using the Viera's genderlock to justify the Hrothgar genderlock is also bad
4. give us lion ladies and bun boys

A part of me refuses to believe they seriously didn't see this coming, which makes me wonder if some higher up wasn't pushing them in either direction. Either way, bad decisions were made with very weak justifications behind them. I hope they figure things out soon and give a clear statement about this.

I'm glad they've publicly acknowledged the feedback we've all been giving them. My only gripe is that they love to stick to lore as an excuse when convenient, but it's out the window in other situations.

Right we gotta show them how much we want both genders of the new races grab the foghorns and lets get a yelling :P more seriously lets continue to show how much we will support them by adding both genders that it is worthwhile to do so probably in 6.0

Reading it, it does seem like they decided at some point to do the Hrothgar as the other side to the female only viera. Which is Disappointing completely. I think it was a compromise that was bound to cause more issue than it fixed.

Right now, the most thing that tires me out, are all those threads popping out everywhere which seems so unnecessary. People that use extreme arguments to attack or defend the DevTeam... (white knighting).
Thats not feedback, and even me whos been here on forums for a really long time now, I think we all have to chill back and just keep spreading this thread in a civil manner to friends, fams and players who ususally dont visit the OF. We reached hell of lots likes on the initial OP post and thats strong enough to leave a noticable mark for Yoshida+ DevTeam but especially Square Enix.
If resources, be it money or time, are lacking, then Square Enix has to invest more into FFXIV so the game can still satisfy most of its players demands.

I would buy a male Viera race as DLC, in fact I would preorder if that's the only way we could get them. Or maby crowd fund.

I think it's pretty clear how the community feels about the limitations on the new races.
I hope SE reconsiders and add the other sexes as later additions.
Male Viera have been a mystery since 2006, and the game is lacking an elegant bishounen with normal neck size and head to shoulder ratio.
Taking an Amano ish approach, making them ballet-esque in physique and with bishounen facial features, so they don't look too different from their female counterpart should do, make them a head shorter and it would make sense why the females are the warriors and the males are the stealthy protectors. Have the female devs work on it, and announce you'll release it down the line with the female Ronzo.
I'm pretty sure people will just be satisfied if the male Viera follows the same design principles as the females, i.e elegant, tall and slender in build, and you know, exist.
