Or... You know they could have made the ears just clip through like they did with the Au ra.

Or they could just not have any gear shown. Both clipped and hidden ears look silly. The more animal/nonhuman feature they have, the less of a need to confine them to human gearing aesthetics when it doesn't really work with their anatomy.
