For Hrothgar, the Visor system would probably be a nightmare to get right, I can understand why they don't want to lose time butting their heads against a wall if there are other priorities to design and animate.
Then it wouldn't really be much of a helmet now, would it? If your giant ears are sticking out the top, they make for an easy target. Thus the helmet wouldn't be useful at all.
Seriously, Yoshida explained it. The heads are unique, and have more options than other races in exchange for not being able to see helmets equipped. Hats will still be seen, just clipped through.
I don’t think they get more options than other races, just options that aren’t available to other races because they aren’t constrained by needing to fit into helmets.
That’s how I understood it anyway, particularly as I can’t imagine how they could actually give additional options to one race when the character creator is so rigid.
as long as Glasses aren't on that no show list i'll be fine...
Meh, this doesn't really bother me.
Why can't helmets and such have holes for the Viera ears? I'd be OK with that. In fact I prefer that for Miqos, or my Elezen ears instead of those darn ear socks. Aaand had they done male Viera, they could have used that same technique for their helmets, and thus saved a lot of time (if that's how it works).
But they did Roethgar instead. It seems, to me at least, like that have increased the work load.
So what happens if you put on a caster robe that has a hood, or that ugly one-piece darklight tank armor?
Sometimes... I dream about cheese.
A curse upon ear socks. :/ Especially for hoods. I don't understand why they can't just drape a little bit wider and cover the ears that way.
