Male Viera as a playable character! show your support

I find the Whole "They are rare and go against the lore" argument... You can't cry lore when we have Flying T-Rexs and Behemoths. "Oh Magic Saddle" ok fine then, "Oh Magic Fantasia" . Same argument. Realistically since Fantasia/Glamour is canon to the lore of the game, you could theoretically change into ANYTHING! I don't buy it.

No, this argument is dumb because Male Viera lore is literally the exact same as Male Moonkeeper Lore, and they're playable.

Miqo'te and Roegadyn lore are this game's original race, no matter how much inspiration their previous predecessors take, they could do whatever they want with it. That's why they have both genders.

Viera was requested by players. Viera is not exclusively original, as their race appeared in other games. If the higher ups said no, then there's not much the devs can do about it but follow orders. So I can never blame them.

Personally, I feel a bit indifferent about the news, but I'm kind of glad that the team are sticking to their guns with lore. What I'm not okay with people throwing buzzwords around for no reason. If you're going to throw these around, PLEASE provide legit proof. I understand you're all emotional about this, I'd be upset, too, if there was something I want that didn't get implemented, but stop to think about this logically. Be reasonable.

Square holds the rights to viera. Square can decide not to make them. Square also holds the rights to ffxiv and square can be held responsible for the decision by people’s choices and feedback regarding this choice.

Additionally. Square needs to learn their lesson from how they handled the questions regarding male viera since Paris. They could have said there are no male viera then and stoped the hype and anticipation. Instead they CHOSE to let it continue and basically set up hrothgar to fail.

I’ve stated day one since the leak, it won’t matter how awesome hrothgar may be. If they’re not male viera, people will be furious, and the forums show I was not wrong. This was a bad decision on Square’s end, and they need to know that their customers disapprove.

Also. The lore excuse is really pathetic. Male misquotes are as rare as male viera and they exist as a playable sex. Duskwight elezen are even rarer and we can play them too. Pointing to lore feels like them making an excuse for not wanting to do it, especially when they said at Heavensward they didn’t do it because Yoshi doesn’t like male viera. Not because lore.

Signed. The news was hugely disappointing for both Viera and Hrothgar and the state that they are in. Not complete ? Low Textures ? Models horrendous ?Missing genders ? I would have much rather had an overhaul of character creation than this.

Genderlocking actually limits variety in the world imo. I would never play Hrothgar, but I would love to be able to see both genders in the open world.
Character creation and character identity in an mmo are very important. It represents you, your identity, personality through your character within this fantasy world. This decision sends a pervading message that SE can be as random and undiscerning as their impressive RNG mechanics.

So. Lore surrounding Male Viera, from what I've seen, states that a Male Viera is primarily independent, living in the woods as it's guardian, and only returning to Villages to have kids.
Lore regarding Male Moonkeepers is... kind of the same thing. They're mostly independent and come around now and then to have kids. Moonkeeper Males are even as rare as Male Viera are made out to be.

This is why using the Lore as a reason to not add Male Viera makes no sense.

There's no real argument to be had here. Male Viera should have happened, gender locking races is stupid and restrictive. When you boil all this down its about not wanting to have made a playable race of feminine men/masculine women, homophobia and sexism. I'm so extremely disappointed and hurt by this, and was so looking forward to actually getting to play as a male viera, feels like a slap in the face. Stop making men have to be hulking monsters and women forced to be sexualized "waifu" appropriate. Let men be pretty and soft, and let women big and muscular and furries.
