Oh stop. If THAT'S what you consider inflammatory, then this entire thread is filled with inflammatory posts from both sides.
Edit: "HUBBAH BUBBAH DOESN'T LIKE PEOPLE SUMMARIZING SLIGHTLY CONDESCENDING IDEOLOGY INTO FUNNY NONSENSICAL CAPS LOCK TEXT HUBBAH BUBBAH."

I never said it wasn't going both ways, but you were the one saying you weren't participating in such things when you most certainly were.
But you do you man.
Eh, I wouldn't consider that inflammatory compared to people literally saying things like "FURRIES ARE GROSS KEEP THAT CANCER OUT OF THE COMMUNITY." or "ARE YOU STUPID WHY WOULDN'T YOU WANT MALE VIERA?" I've read like--several posts ago, but to each their own, I guess? I apologize if some of my posts caused anyone any anger, didn't mean it that way.
Honestly it's pretty funny, you should try it at least.
"HUBBAH BUBBAH MALE VIERA GOOD BECAUSE I CAN LOOK LIKE A HYUR WITH BUNNY EARS HUBBAH BUBBAH."
It's definitely coming from both sides. The degree varies quite a bit, as does the nature of the biting commentary.
Final fantasy hasn’t ever been a extremely masculine franchise by western standardsIt was more of a general statement directed at multiple posters.
At some point a line needs to be drawn. You can already design multiple playable races to be feminine and androgynous. There's also a lot of new hairstyles and casual glamour being added that conforms to such aesthetics. Often at the cost of those of us who just want to conform to traditional standards of beauty.
There's a very vocal portion of players who do everything possible to discourage the development team from adding anything that conforms to masculine aesthetics. I'm not hugely fond of extremely buff men along the lines of Roegadyn as I find their proportions to be ridiculous. Though equally I'm even less fond of the child like, extremely feminine aesthetic that some people in this thread are pushing for.
It's false to claim that there's too much 'bara' in this game. As multiple people have explained already, Au Ra, Highlander and Roegadyn men aren't quite what some of us desire.
Furthermore, given how Viera are described in the lore it makes sense for the men to be at least somewhat muscular and intimidating rather than small and timid looking.
And just because a game does not conform to your western view of masculinity doesn’t mean there isn’t option for you.
Just like you can make the males extremely androgynous you can also make all of them pretty darn masculine.
However when it comes to physical bodies you have more options for masculine men even if the proportions are not exactly to your liking.
No line needs to be drawn there should be options for both. So I hope you get hrothgar and we get pretty male Viera.
Given to how viera as a whole are described in lore they could still be very feminine as the women of the race are very beautiful and are no weaklings on the battlefield. There is little logic in fantasy

I disagree. Many of the male characters can easily be described as 'masculine'. It's a broad spectrum, ranging from classically handsome to ruggedly handsome. Squall and Seifer are great examples of the former aesthetic and Basch, Gladio and Jecht are good examples of the latter. Sure, there's characters such as Kuja that are either feminine or androgynous but they're not exactly the default aesthetic.
Their legs, sure. Arms though? They look roughly the same (aside from the weird scales Au Ra got on only some parts of them and not all over. Really weird design choice, SE).
I can't check in-game right now so I'm only able to go by what I can find on Google images .-.
Ye I'd say au ra are more "lithe" than bara, aside from the birthing hips their biceps and arms are generally way more twiggy than your typical bara character. They're tall as high heaven though.
the default aesthetic for Final fantasy is pretty boy.. or cute boy.I disagree. Many of the male characters can easily be described as 'masculine'. Just as in most anime which Final Fantasy heavily draws its visuals from.
Sure there might be masculine options.. but most of these characters are thin to lithe and very few are actually buff or rugged.
most final fantasy characters would fall under midlander
and PS you can make all those characters in game right now.
I get it masculine men in might be the majority here in the west so you feel the game should appeal to you more. However even if masculine japanese, men are culturally not always aiming to be RUGGED!
