They're not mutually exclusive activities. Nonetheless, Viera females are pandering, and the Hrothgar have been implemented in a way very few of those of us favourably predisposed to them had wanted. So what's your point?

If you read the other threads before JP fanfest you would know that people do that. (Bluemage, Eureka+open world+different relic) People just talk about male viera right now because the events are fresh. So no idea what you want to point out.

I am very happy to see Hrothgar made it in game. It is the very first playable beast-like race, a race that's new and unique. I am already considering a fantasia depending on how many feminine glamour items I have in regular use and if I am willing to give them up, and what the animations are going to be like. My excitement for male Viera was very low in comparison so between those two options I am pleased with what we got.

That said, is it really that difficult to add two full races at the same time? Considering how many people always look forward to new races it doesn't seem worth it to cut corners in this matter. There are much more pointless things added to the game in every expansion. Could've left out BLU, for example.

It's time for Yoshida to step down. He's officially entered Tanaka territory. We CAMPAIGNED against genderlocks and here we are in 2019. No one asked for Horthgar. They look horrible, and if you didn't want to add male Viera then don't add Viera period.

We should never let Square hear the end of this until the genderlocks are removed. I don't care that they have to do it to 2 races now, that was entirely their fault.

Fix the genderlocks or remove Yoshida. As producer/director he handles 100% of the blame and responsibility for this HORRIBLE decision.

The game isn't some social cause. They won't remove a director just because some people don't like a decision he made, particularly if on the whole his direction is making them money. If you want to approach this in a factual manner, monitor the % of active chars comprising Hrothgar later down the line and voice dissatisfaction on the gender lock. Money talks. There's no guarantee they will listen but they will respond better to this than anything else.

That would have removed the sting, IMO. If they did this and also added more customisation for existing races, I'd be over the moon. As things stand, there's now two races I won't be playing, and whilst I appreciate some people like the Hrothgar design, I am not one of them, so I'm disappointed.

I usually only post from work, but this is bothering me. Woke up to find that yeah, they genderlocked both races. I thought Yoshida didn't like genderlocked races and I can't see him sticking to this plan in the long run. They're going to get a lot of flak from the gaming community from doing this.

I never planned to play a male viera and I would only be interested in the hrothgar if they were a different small race, so the genderlocking doesn't affect my plans personally. The concept of it is what bothers me. I guess I'll be picking up a pair of bunny ears for my character to wear for a while to help show support.

I think I'm gonna do that as well, show support where its needed. Males can wear the bunny ears and female... the coeurl mask I guess.
