? i haven't been inflammatory in any of my responses though.
The post above is way more inflammatory than I have been.
I don't think you're understanding what I was saying but I'll break it down.
1. I am not arguing for male viera/female hrothgar being added into the game, I am aware of the leaks and think they have a fair bit of credibility.
2. I am not stating that EVERYONE who wants or are looking forward to female/male hrothgar are or is a furry, I was simply saying there is a difference between kemonomimi/kemono(Athropomorphic/Partial-Beastial traits) and that a MAJORITY of people who would want to see/enjoy and are into anthropomorphic races are both niche(based on racial data and voted data) and are most likely furries(Not a derogatory term).
3. That people should be allowed to say or give speculations without the constant "DON'T GET YOUR HOPES UP DUDES THE LEAKS SAID YOU'LL JUST BE DISAPPOINTED ON FRIDAY." that's not a constructive or conducive attitude to have when discussing, things that have nothing to do with male viera, or genderlocking.
4. I can see the argument on both sides, and I do think there's more evidence to genderlocks whether we like them or not, however we most certainly haven't seen everything yet and anyone claiming otherwise is just being a debby downer.
Let people speculate if they choose to, whatever happens on friday happens essentially, again I'm pretty impartial in this since I prefer male midlander(No money for fantasias) and I'm more concerned with what jobs we'll see at the fanfest but I enjoy taking part in discussion since I love speculating.
Edit: Also Also I'm not completely against genderlocks if there's some sort of good tradeoff for them, like say more customization more faces, more subraces and the like, and do see how they can help with resource allocation as some have explained in this thread.

As long as its not a tall and muscular male I'll be happy. I don't understand why people think we need another bara-esque male. Highlander, Au'ra, and Roegadyn cover the 3 common forms of bara. Even then a Midlander with max muscle slider can look super ripped.
Ideally we need an average to short male that's all soft and feminine. Currently Midlander males at 0 muscle slider with the baby face is the closest we have and that just looks fat for the most part. Lalafells are basically glorified chibis. Miqo'te have a decent amount of musculature to them, and Elezen… we've all noticed the odd proportions on them.
I mean even if they don't add Hrothgar (who are a big ??? right now), it doesn't mean they will add male Viera on terms Yoshi-P explicitly does not want to. Whilst I understand that there is some demand for soft, feminine males, projecting this onto Viera, in spite of developer reservations about it, in spite of the concept art designed to overcome these objections and in spite of their lore, is likely to be a dead end. You would be better off asking for more customisation options for midlander men. Also, there's faces besides the baby face which can be given a feminine vibe on midlanders. Yes, the derplander face, the old one and the sharp featured one are quite masculine in nature, but there's two others you can use for softer features. As long as its not a tall and muscular male I'll be happy. It was more of a general statement directed at multiple posters.
At some point a line needs to be drawn. You can already design multiple playable races to be feminine and androgynous. There's also a lot of new hairstyles and casual glamour being added that conforms to such aesthetics. Often at the cost of those of us who just want to conform to traditional standards of beauty. As long as its not a tall and muscular male I'll be happy. There's a very vocal portion of players who do everything possible to discourage the development team from adding anything that conforms to masculine aesthetics. I'm not hugely fond of extremely buff men along the lines of Roegadyn as I find their proportions to be ridiculous. Though equally I'm even less fond of the child like, extremely feminine aesthetic that some people in this thread are pushing for.
It's false to claim that there's too much 'bara' in this game. As multiple people have explained already, Au Ra, Highlander and Roegadyn men aren't quite what some of us desire.
Furthermore, given how Viera are described in the lore it makes sense for the men to be at least somewhat muscular and intimidating rather than small and timid looking.
Only Roegadyn and Highlanders really fall into the "bara-esque" group. Au Ra kinda... don't? They're about as muscular as the Miqo'te (but taller). As long as its not a tall and muscular male I'll be happy. I don't understand why people think we need another bara-esque male. When the game's story becomes self-aware:
I'm legally obligated to link to the Monty Python killer rabbit video
Yeah, it'd be cool if they were taller and muscular, with less of the ol male au ra birthing hips, they'd pretty much take male elezen's niche though. Same with Hrothgar being tall and thick with muscles, they'd just be a better Roe by some standards, maybe a better au ra for some.
Really though as sad as it is to say most of the 'races' in the game are just different body types, if you compare them to races in other games. So to that effect I do understand people wanting more out of the races.
I know the ideal thing I mentioned is most likely not going to happen. I can hope until its entirely shot down this weekend. I'm willing to compromise. I'd settle for them being more on the lithe side as well. I just don't want another generic superhero bodyshape that they have given to basically everything. It was more of a general statement directed at multiple posters.
