I haven't read through this thread yet. But just bringing up the French mess up real quick. That possible mystery race the Hrothgar, has been blurred out of people's posts... Not sure if anyone has noticed or mentioned it yet.

You mean on the French forums? Because we've said Hrothgar a million times in here and it hasn't been blurred yet.
Funny enough I'm more scared that they'll attempt to make Hrothgar a pretty race which won't please male Viera fans (Why not just make male Viera instead?) and won't please people wanting a bestial race such as myself. My husband was also rather curious about how male viera would end upHe wanted to create a male that would fit to my viera and we really rooted for a tall but lean design with masculin and elegant emotes
Like a fine mix between Au Ra and Elezen. Strong and graceful. Nooow we have to wait for how the hrothgar are going to end up...i am quite scared to be honest xD The name sounds so rough...more like a mix of Au Ra and Roe.
Someone posted a picture a while ago- an artwork of simba and scar in a humanoid formLean and quite pretty. That would be nice.... (but that is just my taste
).
And unfortunaly a quite vocal part in the rp community already voices their grudge against the upcoming "erp-race" Q_Q. Its quite discouraging at times...but on the other hand there is always this group of people that gets mad when new races are coming
i certainly don't have any grudge against female Viera and i am happy people are getting them after asking for so long, i just want bunbois too >_< i've loved the Viera since ff12 and how they were portrayed there my initial reaction was are they fan service race but as i played the game that image was melted away to be one of my favorite ff races made with how much mystery there was surrounding themNo :/ As far as i am aware that is the whole reason why new races are so much work. Every piece of gear has to be adjusted for each individual race. Think about it logically: The gear might be the same in terms of the concept, but the Body proportions are different. You cannot copy paste a upper-body peace from an Au Ra on a Lalafell and just adjust the sizeSo yeah...every piece has to be reworked vor each race....male and female.
On another note: I am following this thread for a while. I personally am rather "neutral". I happy for what i get. I am happy that we get the females and a bit sad of probably not getting male viera. But for me personally it is not a big deal if we get a nice alternative instead. What is really sad to me though is that some people take their frustration out on female viera :/ Painting them as just a lewd race that are "just there to appeal to naughty men". A really nasty stereotype... I am a heterosexual woman that just thinks they are really pretty and aesthetically pleasing. Even if i happened to be a man it would be quite unfair to assume i play them for...a kink.
(If something I wrote is hard to understand (or just a mess), feel free to ask/correct me. I am not a native speaker :/)
All fairness female Viera has the best booty(rather jealous how good it is looking at any male booty) but the way they portrayed them in the reveal is vastly different to the Viera i've known it felt more pandering but this is probably down to marketing so full judgement on that comes in ShB when we interact with them.
For me it is not female Viera that is getting a lot of negative opinions its the mystery race because it has to contend with 'we got this instead of male Viera' a harder thing to shake off than this feels like a bit of pandering that female Viera has
Guy butt is best butt <3
I think the female viera are perfect, everything about them. They're the best looking girls in the game imo (coming from a gay guy, so take that for what its worth) and we haven't even seen all their options yet. They're not quite as fierce looking as Fran as, but I think that is understandable as Fran doesn't represent the entire race.
If the Hrothgar don't impress me, female viera it is. :v There's no other option.
I think some people were typing "redacted" so their post wouldn't get deleted if the forum mods got trigger happy as comments involving datamines and leaks are sometimes deleted. That or forum mods only care about certain forums. People have said Hrothgar plenty of times in this thread and the GD in general.

I don't have issues with both; however, I'm in the odd camp of being pro gender lock short term. I feel that Au'ra weren't made as bestial as they could have been because they thought about the female's design first due to the quote, "players are prioritizing cuteness" (http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/threads/46936). When a race is female focused it feels it is more confined to a certain mold where males will be played despite more difference between them. Now, they can simply make a new race first focusing on the male design, however, I feel that in the back of their minds they'd be like, "Well this feature wouldn't look good on the female counterpart!"
Think about it, despite not wanting to do Viera in Heavensward was due to wanting something more bestial ("they didn't look beastly enough, they were just a little too cute" Reason for not wanting male Viera). The first character they put out to introduce Au'ra was a cute female, and now the first thing we see of Viera is the female too, which makes sense in this case. (The "infamous" interview about Viera being to cute https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/the...n-sense/.91021)
I rather they focus on Hrothgar, if they do exist, as a male race so that they don't have to feel the restrictions about worrying about making a female version that will be popular with the majority of the female character players. That way they can make them as bestial, rugged, hairy and scared as they want them to, and that they don't have to worry about restricting their creative freedom by wanting to make a mass appeal female version which would dumb down the males due to possible complaints about sexual dimorphism.

I unterstand that. I certainly would not be mad if the hrothgar end up being more on the beastial sideJust would not be my cup of tea

I have to agree with you there...personally, i disliked the presentation at the fanfest. Had quite the harem-vibe. Aside from that the animations were quite prettyi certainly don't have any grudge against female Viera and i am happy people are getting them after asking for so long, i just want bunbois too >_< i've loved the Viera since ff12 and how they were portrayed there my initial reaction was are they fan service race but as i played the game that image was melted away to be one of my favorite ff races made with how much mystery there was surrounding them

And i get why you would want them. I really liked the fanart (the tall and lean one) and was quite excited to have one as a twink. But its not looking too good sadly...I won't get mad, but i do hope that they might change their opinion if people keep asking for it (politely).
