Lol I honestly don't see that much of a reaction compared to a job being limited. Like everyone wants to try out a new job. Not everyone wants to be a lion or bunny person.

No they don't. A lot of people couldn't care less about BLU, and there're enough people who don't have every job unlocked, let along leveled. I wouldn't say the amount of people who want to try a certain job is comparable to the people who want to try a new race, but nor are they all encompassing, either.
Unlike jobs, races also don't affect gameplay. So in a way they're more accessible and 'safe' to people, especially since they can be tried out first on alts, and then changed into via the free Fantasias people have access to .

I understand what you're trying to say but personally it speaks against my own desires. Changing my job temporarily at least is effortless, changing my race even temporarily is a giant thought structure of ifs and thans. To use Fantasia or not, to create an alt which I don't really normally do for early game content I don't really like (FFXIV late game great, but I don't relish the idea of having to go back to square one unlike trying a race in WoW might entail (as it's really a different square then)).No they don't. I'd much rather try out a new job than try out a new race. The risk is far less to me, and I'd honestly argue the risk is less for everyone. I'm not saying people want to but I'd say job trying is far easier and far less risky, and thus far more likely than race trying. Of course race trying makes SE a lot of money so whatever lol.
I remember when Heavensward first came out; the amount of people who jumped the gun and changed their main into au'ra just to try it was surprisingly high. While the craze didn't last long and many people turned back, it kind of proved that new races interest a LOT of people. While I can most definitely see the same thing happening again, gender-lock or no, limiting the races would most certainly have an effect. This is even more so that the Viera are highly requested and have already been hyped up a ton despite us not knowing everything about them yet. The amount of people who are being vocal about male Viera and being against gender-locks will only increase in numbers if/when it is announced next week. I can only hope that SE does the right thing.
While I have voiced my opinions of the kind of male Viera I'd prefer, I'd just be extremely happy to get them at all in w/e form they come in as long as there are no gender-locks; it has no place in this MMO. It already worries me that they were willing to create a "limited" Job, as this is not a hole that what we want to do down.
On a side note. As a pretty-boy healer main, I fantasize about dancer(hopefully a healer) bunnboi.
Yea, new races are huge in a game like this. If they weren't SE wouldn't bother considering how huge of an investment making one is. People freak out over them. I still remember the hype surrounding the Au Ra announcement. And the months leading up to it where everyone was guessing about what Yugiri looked like. :v

Lol not even going to argue something so silly. We will see how much outrage there is in less than a week. It'll be pretty obvious on stream.
Not only it won't happen on stream, but even if there was an outrage (woo, reddit will EXPLODE... for like two days, and the same people on official forums will create a new thread every two days about it for the next 10 years, without achieving anything) it wouldn't change a thing.
If SE has already taken the decision that this would be the last addition to the game simply because of how much ressources they have to pour into that, it'd probably take as much people currently playing a catgirl in order to complain about wanting to play a bunnyboy. And everyone know this will never happen. Bunnyboy people are a tiny niche, and the people moralizing the issue simply because they don't like genderlocks don't count (you actually have to want to play as that race and gender to be relevant).
Meanwhile, the vast majority won't even care, as long as the alternative (Hrothgar?) looks cool and some people enjoy it. And even if it doesn't look good, the most you'll get is a "meh", as you said in your next post on the matter.
So, yeah. If outrage there is, will come from the forums (like always), and will achieve nothing anyway (like almost always).
Iono man, we got boy-Miqo, and female Roes and Highlanders. Out of all the things the devs did people rallied agains, genderlocks is maybe the one thing we have precedence of them backing down on.Not only it won't happen on stream, but even if there was an outrage (woo, reddit will EXPLODE... for like two days, and the same people on official forums will create a new thread every two days about it for the next 10 years, without achieving anything) it wouldn't change a thing.
Yoshi said "probably" about Viera being the last, didn't he? Not only is that a loophole to be exploited, SE themselves will already exploit it if they introduce Hrothgar. Just like how they pulled BLU and went "remember when we said about NIN it was hard to release a job mid-expansion? Well we never said we'd never do it again, did we?"If SE has already taken the decision that this would be the last addition to the game
Everything they said about Viera and the hypothetical gender locks is built in such a way that they can go back on it if they so wish.
I see more guys in the bunny outfits than I do girls.Bunnyboy people are a tiny niche
They don't count because they counter your argument, is what it sounds like. There are people who have said they'd stop playing if gender locks are introduced even if they won't play bunny boys, that's an audience SE might care about too.and the people moralizing the issue simply because they don't like genderlocks don't count (you actually have to want to play as that race and gender to be relevant).
Uh, because where else is it supposed to come from? There'll be reddit, and... people silently unsubscribing. What else do you expect there to be?So, yeah. If outrage there is, will come from the forums (like always)
Bolded the important bit.and will achieve nothing anyway (like almost always).

Also if “this is probably the last race” was pointing out a technicality (“we said probably, not definitely~”) we could potentially get something in the line of “well, we said no more new races... but these aren't new races~” for the 2 missing down the line.Yoshi said "probably" about Viera being the last, didn't he?
