I like crafting now that it's more accessible.
Back in ARR or even in HW I always made myself good crafting gear, but never really used it except for glamour, furniture or the odd piece of gear here and there, because crafting could be really annoying and so inconvenient. Now even I crafted many pieces of the current battle gear, because it's much more fun with how the crafting skills are now. It at least seems more reliable and accessible. Preparation doesn't take that long because you neither need all HQ materials nor do you need to use 100 Flawless Synthesis steps for every single pre-craft. It feels much more rewarding for casual crafters now.
And exactly this is why I truly understand that "hardcore" crafters don't like how it is now. But I personally have fun crafting now, while I didn't before. It was just a hassle, while it can be really fun now.
