How much Dev work would it be..

If they combined PLD's sword and Shield into one item like they did with Ninja's Daggers and Monk's fist weapons?

I'm not saying they should do this or that I even want this. Just wonder how much dev time it would take them to do this, or if it would save time in the future by having them one item instead of 2.

In the case of nin and mnk, both pieces are weapons so it's easy to class them as one item. In the case of pld however, the sword is a weapon and the shield is armour. They're not the same item type. The acquisition of shields is the same as weapons, but how they act stat-wise is really not.

I don't know how much dev time it would take. But it likely would be a pain to do because they would have to change how weapon stats work to roll swords and shields into the one item.
