    If you recall what Yoshida said about Materia, you'd realise that more than one materia on anything is intended to be powerful. You'd also recall him saying that raids/instances/etc are balances with one materia per equip attached in mind.

    So it's either you spend a time for your generic looking, powerful multi-socketed weapon or you spend time for a good looking good weapon (ok, except for mages?). Double socket impplies either tons of time getting your materias or tons of money, while the moogle fight requires less time and much less money. In both cases luck kicks in for either meld succeeds or drop rate.

    Still needs tweaking, but it's a way to balance things. And also, i have no problem with player made things outclassing drops, i means that's the only reason to be a dedicated crafter at this point.

    Not if A: Youre fighting Moogle as ARC (Cobalt Arrows are selling for 100k/stack on my server)
    and B: u need to do the Moogle Battle hundreds of times, to get your weapon (like Ifrit) + each pre-req NM for the same amount of times.

    You can always craft your own arrows if you can, same goes for crafting/spiritbinding your gear. The total time investment most;y relies on luck (for proper materia/meld or weapon drop)

    Makes dungeon content pretty useless though, only reason to have these weapons really is for the "cool look at me" factor.

    Materia is the worse thing to happen to this game IMO.

    It's one of the best things honestly. The problem is there's not enough balance to balance things around it yet because they can't release something that blows away any possible 4-5 meld materia armor/weapon this soon in the game's life for example.

    I think marginalising dungeon loot is a bad move in my opinion.

    Yes its great for crafters but In almost any game (online or offline) killing a boss monster is supposed to net you the best gear.

    Tell me why anyone would do Darkhold now other than for the achievement ?

    Next patch we get 2 new dungeons but I doubt the gear will be much use, many of the people who stuck around over the last few months have 2 x melded items anyway, which basically means new dunegons will have nothing to offer besides a trophy item.
