I see no reason to be grateful for getting the opposite of what I want out of the game. Me being honest about my opinions is not the same thing as being toxic. SE, if you see this and give us Hrothgar instead of male Viera, I won't come back to FFXIV and you'll lose my support for 2 years until the next expansion after Shadowbringers comes out.

It is 100% one thing to be honest with your opinion and abrasively delusional about how business transactions work. Not to mention you have no logical factual basis behind anything aside from (Wah... but i want it). Toddler style.

First - You pay for a service. You don't own this IP, it's development or anything else of that nature. You make a choice to spend your dollars to support a company. If you don't like it, you are completely within your right to unsub and that's how it should be. Getting on a public forum and using terms like "cheating you out of your money" because you're not getting exactly what you want? That isn't logical. That's absurd. That is entitled. It is disgusting.

Second - Let's talk about where your entitlement stemmed from? Nowhere. SE did not reveal male viera, they did not promise you male viera. They did not make a pact with your saying it's going to happen. In fact when asked, Yoshi noted that he did not have anything to say on it and that there is a fanfest in March.

So you are here, slandering a company, over a made up thing that you want, when there has been no business commitment to give it to you.

It's 100% not what you're saying that's the issue. It's how you're saying it that makes you incredibly toxic. Entitled, ridiculous, toxic, toxic, toxic.

I had a whole paragraph typed more, but am deleting it because I mean... there is no reason why the dev team wouldn't tell us about Male Viera at EU fanfest if a whole second race was coming in Japan. Logically it wouldn't make sense to have all these angry bunnybois considering I'm sure they see this small vocal minority (Most of the guys in this game play girl characters btw) and would want to avoid that ire. There is even an article from 6 years ago saying that male bunnybois would be weird. So I feel 99% certain there are no male viera coming.

So since you're probably not getting Male Viera and that feels like justice enough for all these shenanigans. Don't forget to unsub!

    !
I think you're being nasty here for no reason. Did you ever consider that female viera are just further along development wise because they needed to get the model ready for Fran, and that is why they didn't show the men yet? And when asked about male viera, we were told to wait for Japanese fanfest. There was no dismissal. If they knew we weren't going to get male viera they would have said something to that effect when they showed the female viera.

Not to mention they have already given us lore for the m viera. They could have just as easily made viera a female only race like the galka from FF 11, but they didn't. They made a point to explain the role of men in viera society. If they thought "male bunnybois" were too weird to include, they wouldn't have worked them into the game at all.

I think we're getting male viera regardless, the question is just a matter of when. That's why hrothgar have made the situation so confusing.

Lol, nothing nasty about being truthful. Your line of thinking is just as backwards as everyone else who is praying for male Viera. There's no way they're so far behind in development when it is being released in June that they couldn't show ANYTHING or say ANYTHING when it came to them. Yoshi was being purposefully coy about waiting for the JP fanfest because he's always coy about things. The lore thing definitely leads to the hint that they're LESS likely to be made a playable race than more. We might get male Viera at some point, but I honestly think anyone who is looking with clear eyes and not hopefuly eyes sees that the clues point to a certain conclusion. And to spell it out, it's that they aren't making male Viera for 5.0.

He wouldn't be coy about something if the answer is just going to be a straight "no", he's not like that. There would be no point in giving people false hope like that. Do you think Yoshi wants to alienate fans? Give a neither yes or no answer to something only for the answer to just be "no" in the end? That isn't good publicity for him.

Nothing in the lore makes them less likely either. Sure, they're rarer than the females? So are male miqote and they're playable. If they didn't want male viera in the game, they wouldn't have established them to begin with.

It makes WAY more sense that he didn't say "there will be the male Viera reveal at jp fanfest!" because there will be something different that's a surprise rather than because he's trying to hype up a male Viera reveal. Like seriously, look at it clearly now. And the lore saying they're rare and that you would be hard-pressed to see one definitely sounds more like it's less likely to be playable to me than more likely to be playable. But maybe I'm just looking at it too logically. It's not a comparison between miqote and Viera lore, it's a comparison of given this lore for male Viera, what option sounds like the more obvious conclusion. I'm not saying that it's saying they absolutely won't be playable, I'm just saying that it's not saying that they are absolutely going to be playable and if anything it sounds less likely.

To be fair, the female Viera we've seen all have the same face and don't even have unique animations since they use Au Ra female stuff. What we've seen is Fran's body with different hair styles and different colors. That being said, I also find it very hard to believe they are BARELY now starting to make Viera 5 months before expansion, unless they have a large amount of people crunching time on them. The combination of female Viera clearly not being close to done despite being 5 months away from ShB and the radio silence on males is what is making people confused. Add some accidental Hrothgar and its a recipe for disaster where no theory is more right or wrong than anyone else's just because there is a lot of conflicting evidence.

Also, I typed out a thing earlier to you responding to why I think gender lock is lazy but I accidentally deleted it. tl;dr it's like game designers can't think of anything else but hot girls and hulking men. To me, artistically it's lazy as they can't breach their comfort zone. Almost like they do with female primals. Notice how all female primals are hot girls in costumes while a large majority of the male ones are monsters? They even hid Lakshmi's tail for some reason. Strange. SE please give me monster girls.

Exactly. The female viera don't even look that finished and they were the models they had to start earlier to make Fran for the 24 man raid. The waters about all this stuff is too muddled to make sense of right now. Not to mention that the data files seem to indicate that Hrothgar were in development before the Viera were to begin with, which is very puzzling.

I mean if anything a male Viera would fit the mold they already have creatively, though. Like if they're lala-viera types that would be somewhat different than what we already have but otherwise it's the same type of humanesque model with an animal part. If anything, a lion type of burly beastman would be the different type creatively.

Edit: also I don't know what trailer you guys were watching but unless I'm blind, they didn't have all the same faces.

Watch again, it's been pointed out in several threads, including this one, that all 4 Viera in the trailer share the same face, eye, lip shape and nose, it's masked because of the differing coloration but it's pretty dang obvious and the bangs of 3 of them block their eyebrows (and one is using face markings), so either the Viera are super limited customization-wise or it's the same face.
