...what?Explaining the inner workings of the gay subcultures is not the main focus of this thread...to summarize things let's just say that people tend to go for people who look like them, though there are chasers that chase the other gay subcultures. They're all based of body types and tend to be really superficial, which is kinda sad but that's just how it works. Bears tend to only like bears because at some point or another they have trauma from being rejected by a skinnier guy. This makes them either hate them or constantly pine on them. Then skinnier guys who have body image and/or daddy issues makes them either chase bears or be grossed out by them.
Have you tried, not generalising and being prejudiced?
I've been doing the DRG quest this morning

I don't understand why it seems like recently everything that is not a bodybuilder is considered a twink. lmao
But can we, like, leave sexual orientation discussions and etc away from this thread? It never ends well, it won't add anything relevant to the point of the thread and it'll only cause unecessary commotion.
Back on topic, if Hrothgar is definitely a thing, I really hope the females are all kinds of firce badass women. There are a lot of ways a woman can be beautiful, but it seems like SE only likes the cute-beautiful approach for female races in this game, even the Viera trailer is all about cutesy emotes and smiles and poses, when they could have showcased other emotes or facial expressions.
I agree I'm all the Hrothgar females who are badasses. Especially if they're lions! In the animal kingdom, it's the ladies that do all the hard work. Fierce huntresses. But eh, the issue with this is that Miqo'te have the same thing going for them, and while you can still make a fierce-looking female miqo'te - most are just adorable and cute. Not amazonian fierce. The Viera was supposed to be that 'Amazonian Fierce' but they ended up being adorable.
What? Have you tried not living under a rock?
Gay subcultures ARE based off people’s body types. Twinks=skinny, bears=big and stocky, and otters=lanky and hairy. I described it that way on purpose to explain the rationale behind that other guys thinking.
I think for normalcy’s sake that Viera males don’t fall into either category too much, just something in the middle that doesn’t look too extreme.
But seekers of the sun are based on lions, it seems a bit odd to me to add a new race using the theme of a race already in game. I assume they will have a different build but seems odd to get two new races both very close theme wise to the most popular in game race.I agree I'm all the Hrothgar females who are badasses. To be fair Blufever was part of a translation team, so all the leaks we got were based off text, and text alone. There's no pictures, concept art, or any visual reference to the Hrothgar apart from mentions to their manes, which is why everybody is drawing the conclusion that manes = lions. And I think Blufever came to the same conclusion himself. But manes aren't exclusive to lions, and if we start thinking that everyone is just assuming lions because a trusted leaker assumed lions based of the word "mane" in text files, that opens room for something else entirely to be the playable race instead.
Example: If Viera didn't exist in the FF universe and were introduced first on XIV, nobody knew what they look like and text files pointed out long ears, everyone would draw the conclusion it's an elf race, or a variation of, even though long ears stands for bunny. Or could be fox, bat, etc.
The same idea can be applied to male Roegadyns, if the very first one to appear and be mentioned by NPCs in text files were a Hellsgard and their black spot on the nose. That draws imagination to jump to lion aesthetic... which they are not.
At the end of the day we are attributing mane as a lion features, when in reality there are many other possibilities that we are not considering because of a lion avatar picture, which could have been a misinterpretation of character features text.
