Well... Given that Nightshade manipulates time... It could be possible that you would be able to teleport around while leaving a ghost of your future self in place, then after each teleportation effect, you'd end up returning to the ghost of yourself and take the damage that was dealt to it (With some mitigation attached)

Alongside, you know, regular teleports to act as normal mobility (Such as teleporting out of a telegraphed attack) - Think teleporty versions of skills like Corps-a-Corps and Displacement.

Would also let you weave in directional skills during MT, if you could for example, teleport behind the boss to shank them in the butt, while they still focus on your copy (Instead of turning around the cleave your party in the face)

Or alternatively, since Time Manipulation, you could try and implement the same things, but with boss affecting Stop's and Slows that serve to inhibit their ability to turn around or move while you use mobility skills. It's just a matter of fine tuning the mechanics so that they can function without creating cheese strats where skills/mechanics can be avoided with such skills.

It was a job from Tactics A2

While it wasn't available for players, it did appear in the game and had some pretty sweet skills (Well... Not that sweet given that Illua, the girl with the job, was the main antagonist and so was using these skills AGAINST you)

Many thanks. While obviously not a fan of how so many of these skills translated then to just HP/MP damage, thematically this looks pretty great. An XIV-unique job (idk, Mistling, Inkling, Clockwork Knight?) might give it a run for its money, but I'm pretty happy with the concept thus far. Assuming you couldn't use the odachi pictured here, what weapon would you think fitting?

I'd actually hoped that DRK would be able to do as much when I first heard about Shadowskin and Dark Dance, back before DRK's full release. Sounds good.

Hard to say really. If the design is being hyper mobile, teleporting around and dealing damage from multiple angles, you'd really be looking for a weapon that plays on speed (I.e. You wouldn't be doing this with a greathammer or a giant axe unless you were a literal anime)

So what springs to mind for fast weapons are well... Katanas (Also, other swords of the same family such as Wakizashi, Tachi, Odachi) which are unlikely because SAM... Daggers are obviously used by NIN... Shortswords are again, unlikely because well PLD/GUN... Rapier is RDM... Fist weapons (All types, from Cestae to push daggers) are all on MNK...

    Moving on from those...

Possibly Kama, though, I fear that might interfere with getting a potential Pirate class as they used one handed Axes in previous series. Maybe Kusarigama? (Kama, but on chains)

If looking at some of my previous wishes in this thread... Gun Gauntlets! (Though, I doubt they'd give us another "But it's also a gun!" class)

If they wanted Nightshade to out-edgelord DRK then Scythe could be a possibility! (Though, it would have some logic behind it since using a Scythe to "Rend" time/space open is not a new concept)

Staves are also a possibility. Yes, we already have 2 staff users, but combat staves are a under represented weapon in games, but when they are used they're often jointly seen with mobility as a theme.

Thus far Naginata are an aesthetic variant of DRG lances, just as DRKs can also use odachi, but wouldn't be displaced by LNC/DRG, right? That or similar slim-bladed pole-arms capable of slashing seems another decent bet for a mobile tank. Staves would work as well, but honestly I'd like to reserve them for Adepts.

Scythe fits within the realm of edgy/speedy tropes would have to be a specific variant, as scythes have a much stronger percussion length than one would think from their blade and their only historical use has been more like a falx for striking into armor like a pick-axe or reaching over shields to split the shield-blinded user's head. But, there's plenty of aesthetic freedom while still rocking the "scythe" vibes that could make it look appropriate.

Kusarigama would be another top contender, but feels a bit... weak(?) for a tank, even a hyper-mobile one. It seems like it'd better belong to something like XI's NIN, designed as a DPS, but with a kit that's tremendously exploitable for tanking opportunities.
