I keep giving you likes. The thing is, with Omega they've already opened up the thought of threats from worlds other than Hydaelyn itself. And Palace of the Dead set precedence for reworking things from completely outside of Final Fantasy to fit.
I give them the benefit of the doubt that they can make it work and make sense, and not just be "Here you go, hang out with some androids, tear up some machines. No reason, it's just because its popular!"
Yeah, Palace of the Dead had the Tactic's Ogre influence and that actually leaded this back to Matsuno and Ivalice Alliance. I'm a fan of Matsuno, i dare say FFT (PSX) is better than all main entries and vagrant story is probably the better SE game.
But the way it was implemented was really... A mixed bag. Rabanastre and Ridorana were a mess, and the lore dumps needed on prima vista were just awful. For a FFT players it probably felt a lot like they took some of their favorite characters and "dumbed" them down to fit Hydaelyn, where people without FFT knowledge or ivalician knowledge, it was really torn and apart. And again i stand this as a case of: Do not explore whole regions in dungeons/raids. Ivalice is like 30% of the Othard continent, exactly what is covered by clouds we never got to explore, we never go to explore it!
Is like content cutting... Anyway, i feel Ivalice (and omega too) where just saved basically because in the end they finally came back to Hydaelyn matters, Omega is still very far off, but ill pass it as a way to tell that in the universe there are alien civilizations that could end/wipe planets, which is basically what both middy and omega did, ok, pass. But just in the end, Alpha and Sigmascape were meaningless and fanservicey, it was like a quick cheap checklist of reference: Maybe next 8 man raid will give us sephirot, kingdom hearts version for all their care.
Sorry but no. They do not have a good experience enough with this kind of crossovers - Binding Coil and Crystal Tower were so much better implemented in general, so deeply engrained. Sorry, Bahamut was not a mere franchise checklist reference, FFXIV Bahamut is pretty much iconic, the Bahamut i think when i think about Bahamut. So is our Crystal Tower, no one will ever convince me that Xande WASN'T the emperor of the Allag empire. That is OUR story.
Who the f**k is Kefka? A comic relief villain of some far flung world who has nothing to do with anything save serve as a trail for some, right from the start, very silly experiment. Omega could have been much cooler, considering his obsession with middy, it was the precise moment to finally end that storyline proper, maybe introduce the 2 missing sons still, nah, kefka and the ghost train will do, references!
Sorry. No. Automata needs to be the new Coil and it won't happen.

I agree. The announcement that has me the most excited for Shadowbringers is the one that... strongly relates to a completely different game that isn't FFXIV, ironically enough.
I understand how this can concern some players. It's essentially a crossover event on steroids. However, I'm inclined to say that it's worth it. For me personally, any concerned thoughts aimed at this direction is far outweighed by the sheer joy that I feel towards NieR: Automata.
I am honestly just waiting for the full story of this Riad before making final judgement.
The raid can be fan-service or maybe there is a lore reason why this raid is happening.
Hildibrand season 2 storyline that happened in 2.X had the impression of fan-service but ended up having one of the most important Lore to Ul'dah's history.
Maybe Nier Raid may dive into WoL (our character) origins to a point implying WoL may not be from this world before they were summoned into FF14 world by Hydaelyn (before waking up in 2.0 intro) by having the story focus on why a portal into Nier Universe appeared only to discover later in Raid 2 or Raid 3 that this anomaly relates to how the WoL appeared into FF14 World as well.
Huh...someone not jumping to conclusion and is determined to give a future content a try before writing it off? Rare trait around these parts.I am honestly just waiting for the full story of this Riad before making final judgement.

Well here is a complete list of games Square Enix has published, published not developed since Nier Automation was developed by Platinum Games the same studio that brought you Bayonetta. If we pick things from that list, things can get really silly, really fast. Why not use Tomb Raider or Hitman? How about Deus Ex or Super Mario RPG? Heck since SE help publish Western games in Japan, we can have Batman and Call of Duty in the mix too.
Collab events are one thing but I feel core content for FFXIV should be Final Fantasy related. Honestly I'll just boycott this raid and do something else in game.
Heck, I like Kingdom Hearts but that doesn't mean I think running around with Donald and Goofy as Trust Companions is a good idea....

We've seen "future content" a lot, for like, 5 years already. Do not call a tomestone what is not: New/Future.
Same applies to 24 man raids.

Okay, so you're into word games, that's nice I guess. Would "the next raid story line" be more to your liking? I referred to the 5.x raid series as "future" in the sense that it is slated to be released at 5.1 and late this year. After which it will be...content.
Agree, the announcements we've got it's pretty much the same since HW, it's really nothing different: "brand new area which will be empty because nothing is in there, brand new class that it's either another paladin replacement or a second warrior, a brand new tribe with brand new 3 daily quests, brand new dungeons which half of them are brand new remakes of previous dungeons, brand new level cap, everything is brand new...except a lot of stuff is as common as grass.
Only features that are completely new might not even big a big deal...I mean trust system? just like the custom deliveries? which is super underused?
Nice no more tp...what's the difference? It might not even affect us melee that much for all we know. It's not like SB classes overhaul level of excitement.
And more skills....uhm, my bar is so full i can't even put new stuff. Are they gonna add even more skills? Great, nothing new again!
And Viera....I feel like it's just an elezen with bunny ears on them. I didn't expect it anything and I'm still disappointed. I'll stick with my potato girl.
At this point is pretty easy to figure out what's gonna happen unless something REALLY big happens and unless the trust system and stuff are REALLY all that impactful, we'll get the same stuff we had since ARR. Under yet another coat of fresh paint
