Although I wish FFXIV had more of its own things rather than just fan service of other games. Yoko Taro is brilliant and I cannot wait to see what he does with it. When you really dig into the guts and subtext of Nier, its amazing.

As someone who doesn't play Nier, I can easily treat this as original content (unless I decide to play Nier behorehand).
Assuming they actually put all the content in XIV and not write a third of it assuming you played Nier beforehand, like they did with Ivalice and Tactics...
Maybe, but for me, the actual story of Ivalice in FFXIV is about what the modern Ramza's family is doing about their family reputation. We may not know everything about the background, but it is just background material.
I did play both XII and Tactics (the PS1 version) but never finished either (I think I was in the final battle in XII though) and it was such a long time ago that I hardly remember them, but I think what we got is just fine as a standalone.
I mean this is very very unexpected but I appreciate it so much as a huge NieR fan. Thanks so much for the collaboration, Yoshi! I can't wait to get a 2B gear set, personally, haha.
Looks like I'll be dyeing my characters' hair white
I think we can at least agree that it's a good thing that it's not a F.A.T.E. event. Do I think it's an overreach in terms of ideas on how to implement Nier into the game? Yes. Do I mind it? Not at all.
Healing DRK is literally... the same since ShB. The reason why people think it's a meme to heal nowadays because DRK receives very little to no buff to their sustainability vs 3 other tanks getting something useful. If you're capable of healing DRK back in ShB (or any tanks), then you'll heal EW DRK just fine.
Any bullet hell segments would probably be a lot like Byakko. Same red orbs, and the fall during his interlude could easily be reworked to include a flight unit.while I have never played a Neir game I can see it fitting in to FF14 under 2 senarios: 1) Garlian pet project: if the trailer is to be assumed we've been MIA for a bit since 4.45, Scion's are alive & have been up to shit while all "Holy" hell's been let lose, which gives Garland time to R&D some robo-ppl to replace losses or 2) Reality shift: title says it... & probably allagan's did it
From what I've seen of Neir gameplay vids, I hope they tone down the "Bullet hell"... I mean we all remember the Vault's last boss right? that d**kweed left some ppl with "Dodging" nightmares denched in FLAMES (even I dread getting that dugeon when leveling, I dread it more then AV)
I'm in the same boat on this one and will most likely pass on this 24 man raid because it's just not interesting to me. A Sci-Fi action game doesn't mesh will with a Fantasy RPG game. They could have used Final Fantasy 1, II, IV, V, VII, VIII, IX, or even X that has more than enough raid potential. They could have enough used some of their older games like Secret of Mana, Dragon Quest, Romancing SaGa, or even stretch it to Chrono Trigger. Honestly whats next? Parasite Eve, Front Mission, Rad Racer?

it is much better for XIV to do collabs like this than another atrocity like Yokai. Or the same boring fates over and over
