They need to extend the quick report functionality to be usable from the player search menu because it's not like it's difficult to identify the gil farm bots by their gibberish names.

Even if the reports aren't actually acted on initially, they should also make them permanently leave a bad mark on the player's record for when the GMs/STF do decide to actually look into a report, since if they see that the same players are constantly being reported on a regular basis, it might make it more obvious that they're overlooking something. They could prevent abuse of the function by not allowing new accounts to use it (Since people could/would get their jollies from filing false reports against people they don't like using alt accounts).

So OP is clearly not... composed here. but there's an interesting point at the heart of it all. so let me play devils advocate and rephrase:

As it is now, strikes are held against an account in perpetuity. a player could acquire 3 strikes over the course of 6 years, or 6 days, and they are equally permabanned in the eyes of squeenix.

    is this right?

is a person getting 1 report every couple years truly a "problem player"? at least one deserving of permaban? would it be unreasonable that after SOME period of clean behavior, strikes should "wear off" or "downgrade" in some way. thoughts?

In all my years of playing, I have only experienced people saying rude things to me maybe TWICE. You're clearly doing something wrong if you're running into people being so toxic to you, so often, that you feel the need to lash out at them and I'm inclined to believe that possibly...it's not entirely someone else provoking little old innocent angelic you. Best thing to do is just not say ANYTHING to start in a dungeon.

If someone is bashing you for not playing well, then ignore them and report them so then they can be in this position where THEY are about to lose their account. If you're going off on other people for playing less than spectacular then maybe you need to take a moment and learn to keep your own mouth shut since we ALL get those DF groups where the other people seem to be watching anime on their second monitor. It sucks but it's just a game. Drop it and move on.

I don't know what to tell you. I've never been reported. I think the majority of us never have. Just be a nice person and you don't have to worry. If you're really struggling, close your chat window so you won't be provoked.

    Regarding Buzzwords' post though.....
I do agree that frequency as well as severity should be considered. Small infractions that happen over long periods of time should hold less weight than severe ones over the same amount of time. As well, frequent infractions should be handled more severely than infrequent ones.

Of course there is the question if some bans should just be deleted from the account if the person behaves really well. I would be for this because humans do can make mistakes and if they are good 99% of the time and over years than they should not be punished that hard. But in OPs case it feels more like they are easily angered thus no matter how easy SE is going to be towards such rules they would be perma banned sometimes if they dont change themselves and that is imo good.
