If it worked like the normal mode raids, and you could keep running it until you got your 1 drop for the week, that would be great. I would happily farm this to kingdom come.
Instead, you have this situation where if you try to PF it, you could very well be trapped into getting no chests for the week, and thus locking yourself out of any drops for the week.
You're encouraged to find a static team you can trust. You are being forced into having to either sync schedules with 7 other people, or finding 7 people in a hay stack that raid at the times you can raid.
You get a community that heavily vets people before even letting them have their first try.
I got denied entry to two of two statics so far because I don't exist on fflogs yet.
The difficulty of the encounters is fine to me. I would argue for harder, but I notice most people actually have a hard time with the current difficulty. I would like to get into the Ultimate fights, really.
This is where my biggest gripes with current systems is.
One reason I don't even really want to get to deep into harder content. I don't exist APPARENTLY either on "fflogs". I didn't even know what it was until I came back and my friend told me, while putting me up there for a dungeon or something. I don't think, even if I was good (:P), I would get into any kind of group, without finding an overarching guild first. It sucks.

Unless you join a party ahead of the fight order you've cleared for the week, this can't happen. You may not receive any loot for you job or lose the roll to someone else, but provided you do the fights in order each week and no one else has cleared, you will always get drops.

As for FFlogs. The solution is to get yourself on the board. This isn't the pushover fights anymore. People want to know the type of player they're getting otherwise they might be wasting their time. That being said, there are plenty of groups starting out that couldn't care less about FFlogs. You just have to look at PF, reddit or join recruitment discords.

Thing is for many that Stormblood was just a mass dissapointment. Granted they have tried Diadem, Eureka and in 4.5 we will get umm well you know, but for the most part SE like to play it safe and that is not always a good thing.

The biggest disappointment for me was Eureka. It was announced as one of the main features of the expansion and it was basically Diadem with a new coat of paint for the most part. Pagos was the breaking point I think for most people. Personally, I only bothered to do Pagos after the nerfs the most recent patch brought.

Pyros wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't for the RNG. A little RNG isn't a bad thing and it's part of an MMO. Too much is...well, too much. We shouldn't have to roll for random stats on our weapons. Nor should bunny fates be so random in that you may or may not even get a bunny, then there's another layer of RNG for which coffer you get, on top of yet another layer or RNG which dictates whether you get anything worth a damn.

Other than that SB hasn't been amazing, but it hasn't been bad either. The usual stuff has been pretty decent like the Beast Tribe quests, dungeons and raids. Ivalice (the 24 man raid) has been fantastic. Omega wasn't all that impressive until Sigmascape imo which started off with the Phantom Train fight. Good stuff. Alphascape as a whole was also pretty great. The MSQ story has actually gotten better over the course of the patches as well which was surprising. I loved the most recent story quests where we got to play as other characters. So yeah, some good and some bad. That pretty much sums up SB for me.

MSQ was great, Relic (and not only because of Eureka) was a fail in my mind. It was added far too late to begin with and sub sequent patches of it.
Past Relics it gave players something to do while having no other content, this Relic simply was/is not worth doing in SB

The problem I have with the other things is we did it before. For the 24 man raids, they where too easy, even blind. Do you remember what the first week of wipe city was? Or Dunscaith ? I was in groups where the timer ran out, now it is all too easy because people know everything from the past, just doing the same thing for the most part.

So I would consider SB overall bad from the overuse of reusing past game content, but if it was somehow in a vacuum it was ok I guess?

Eh, there's nothing wrong with something being easy so long as it's fun. To me, the Ivalice raids have been fun. Can't really say the same about VA, WC and DS even though there was a little challenge in WC and DS.

You have to remember a large portion of this playerbase comes from the console lifestyle, in which some have little to no MMORPG experience that the PC crowd has had for years. It isn't a surprise many will feel ffxiv is a treadmill, but that's what all MMORPGs that have lasted over the years are. Get used to it because it isn't going to change. It's fine to ask for different content in conjunction to the treadmill, but anyone who wants the treadmill gone needs to find a new genre to play.

The issue isn't that the content we get each patch/expansion is predictable, the issue is that nowadays the game design of said content seems copy/pasted from one dungon/trial/raid to another. Back in the 2.X era, each trial/dungeon/raid 8 and raid 24 had a distinct feeling about them. This isn't the case anymore as the content is more and more streamlined. Getting predicatable content is ok, being getting sold something we already bought isn't.

Seems like you just had bad luck, in all honesty. I haven't raided this tier due to personal responsibilities not allowing me to, but the I witnessed a very welcoming community on the previous tiers. The best way to get yourself notice by a static, is to sub for one, if that helps. Even if you don't make it in, you'll most likely will have an fflog entry, and, if they have a discord channel that you were invited to, you might find other people looking to form one of their own.

I personally stopped playing TESO because I felt like it was getting expensive if you didn't sub. But one thing I liked about it, is that the developers always tried to do at least something new (with the game) in their content drops. Imagine if FFXIV had it's own version of Craglorn where the whole zone is scattered with group puzzles and encounters? Instead, we get the same instance of Diadem/Eureka, 5 times...
