Additionally, in the event you are able to use abilities forever once you learn them, the difficulty of learning abilities would be high, and we wouldn't be able to balance the system so it wouldn't revolve around procuring your abilities instead of equipment. This wouldn't be practical enough to fit in an MMORPG party setting and conversely if you are swapping in only certain abilities you've learned, the true image of a blue mage would diminish, so this is something that I am concerned with.

Back when we heard quotes such as this one, I believe that most people were left with the impression that the reason as to why Blue Mage hadn't been added to the game is because SE had yet to figure out a way for it to work in the MMO setting. What Yoshida described were perceived barriers from his personal perspective. We assumed that, in the event that Blue Mage were ever officially added to the game, it would mean that SE found a solution to those problems. As it turns out, SE never actually came up with a solution. Blue Mage has been "added" in such a way that its segregated from a large sum of the MMO environment.

    It was feedback after all.
This is really not a good argument because it's basically something that could become the standard with any kind of professional field setting that you apply yourself to. It happens more often than you think, but it just blends in with the environment because it's a common occurrence that most people will gripe about for a while, and then end up stomaching it regardless without making a huge stink about it over the media outlets like public forums.

And considering what just happened with the rest of the XV DLC and how long it actually took XV to come out? That the game designers and developers worked for years on certain aspects (like the combat engine) only for Nomura to not like one thing about it, and instead of just fixing that one thing, he single-handedly scrapped the whole part and demanded it to be redone from scratch? If it wasn't for Tabata, the game might have still been unfinished.

Yeaaaaaaa, not a good argument to use for Blue Mage when concerning SE's team and their management.

Your FFXV tangent missed the point of my example. I was trying to show how my preference doesn’t have anything to do with my actual opinion. I like XV despite my preference. Only reason I think you didn’t get it is because you regurgitate my point as though you thought of it :/

Also, I’d say if you are dissatisfied with how someone is handling something whether or not it’s out, express your dissatisfaction. It’s not rude. What is rude is acting like it’s already shit, as some people will inevitably say. But you can’t stop them, as much as a lot of us would like to. As well, it’s rude to tell people it’s rude how they are expressing their opinions and when unless they are being complete jerks about it. Those “fix” guys definitely didn’t do it in an innapropriate way. They are just throwing out ideas of how they would fix Blue Mage to work. Normal fan stuff. You know, stuff they were doing before this all started. Stuff that they do with existing jobs that we can play.

Perhaps your “it’s rude to talk about it before it’s released.” Is moot because we know quite a bit about how it’s being handled right now. And most of the people aren’t even criticizing the job but how the job is being handled. And are giving fair and welcome critique, at least most of the ones I’ve seen that get attention on here and Reddit at least.

But that doesn't mean my post was made to defend BLU, it was more to defend the dev team. It's about telling people to try it instead of hating it right away, to be a little more open to new ideas, and remind them YoshiP was open to feedback... but that to give some actual feedback they needed to try the job first !

Maybe to make it clearer, I am also not really satisified by it being a limited job.
But there's already plenty of other combat jobs, and more coming in 5.0.
So I am quite curious at getting my hands on something new, and that plays like a job. Something different from a combat job, or a crafting/gathering job.
Also this is end of xpack content, so it is just the perfect time to try new things.
My apologies for lashing out at you. Like I said, there's about 8-10 threads already about BLU, with two or three being started by one person and same the people posting and even harassing those that support BLUE mage. One or two complaining about BLU and another one talking down on anyone who doesn't share their views on the topic of the other thread or two. It's frustrating and like you said, absurd. It's even worse when you try to provide a possible solution on how the dev team can implement the current BLU into content and get words thrown in your mouth and labeled as either being in support or against the issues with said class/job. But alas, welcome to the forums right?

Cute response. But again dismissive of valid concerns and criticisms people have of BLU. Though judging by your other responses in this thread it seems you're just here to troll, so have fun

The hate isn't absurd. They should've known they'd get a lot of hate for it, it's a 'limited' class that a lot of people wanted to main in the raid scene.

The foundation and assets are already there. Let's say they went with my suggestion, and it would be no different from how Berserk turns into Inner release. Was that so hard? No. So why can't something similar be done?

Or, you know, all PvP content. There's already precedence for jobs changing abilities depending on the content.

Actually no, myself and many others who have been playing since the NES FF titles saw the changes as a betrayal of the franchise. Appealing to the lowest common denominator of gamers (the masses). The addition of action combat to arguably the best turn based RPG franchise felt like a betrayal to a lot of us.

Well I felt the same for FFXV, played it and actually enjoyed combat in the end.
On the other hand, I personally despised it. Not because it wasn't turn-based -- I preferred the ambition of trying a new system -- but simply because the implementation felt poor to me. The swing animations in the context of an actual fight looked awkward, enemy movements were well animated but mis-aimed, like a tremendous-budget film taking on the choreography and stuntwork of half-assed school play. Somehow it managed to give less of a feel of teamplay, and commonly of strategy or urgency. It just didn't cut it for me.

And I'll admit, in a certain perspective, that doesn't seem fair. Turn-based combat is more limited in fundamental ways; there are therefore just fewer things that can go wrong, and it shouldn't be a surprise that the realtime combat triggered more peeves than turn-based combat. But, at the end of the day, nothing particularly good about the combat stuck out to me, while plenty of bad things did, even when not thinking of it in comparison to TBS or even as an FF game. The waste stood out. The lack of polish stood out. Nothing else much did.

I'm not going to dislike XIV BLU for being "not BLU enough". I'm going to dislike it if it's just... not fun.
