All that BLU hate is just absurd

I said hate because there's a little more people angry than the rest who's waiting for it or don't care.
But that doesn't mean my post was made to defend BLU, it was more to defend the dev team. It's about telling people to try it instead of hating it right away, to be a little more open to new ideas, and remind them YoshiP was open to feedback... but that to give some actual feedback they needed to try the job first !

Maybe to make it clearer, I am also not really satisified by it being a limited job.
But there's already plenty of other combat jobs, and more coming in 5.0.
So I am quite curious at getting my hands on something new, and that plays like a job. Something different from a combat job, or a crafting/gathering job.
Also this is end of xpack content, so it is just the perfect time to try new things.

That's why it feels so absurd to me - talking about making something better... when no one has even played it yet...

You are missing the point entirely, either intentionally or not.

I mean, keep being negative to all sort of "new" things, and you'll get what you want raids, and dungeons, and trials, and raids...
You'll kill your fun yourself (and the game in the end) by being closed to any new concepts or ideas.

Complaining about something you don't like is not a bad thing. It's how situations change. Look at the complaints in Rainbow six Siege lately. Ubisoft listened and are changing the game for the better.

The devs don't need you to defend them. They aren't precious flowers who can't handle their fans complaining about design choices. They know we love them. They need to know we don't like BLU, and it should change. BLU can still be the "new content" you wish for even if it's changed to a normal job (like we want).

No one's asking to remove the solo portions. Adding the ability to do all content takes nothing away from solo players.

And then again, who told you the devs had to deliver a regular job at patch 4.5 ?
They want to experiment - you don't like it, then yell at them or unsub to show your miscontent - in the future, they won't dare proposing you something different and will offer you the same thing everytime...
Yes it's side content, as useful as Lord of Verminion, yes. But it's still content, and some people will enjoy it.

Regular jobs are coming at 5.0, too bad for those who (wrongly) expected BLU to be one.

This is a false dichotomy. You're basically saying if they try something new—which is debatable in the context of BLU to begin with—people either have to appreciate it the devs will never try anything new again. When people argue for changing up the formula, they mean the same tomestone grind and predictable pattern FFXIV has followed for years. BLU doesn't necessary change that. Furthermore, no one is asking they abandon the Masked Carnival or even the concept as a whole. They're taking umbrage with the notion BLU is just impossible to balance due to job identity despite this never being a compare previously. This thread points out the fallacy of that stance to almost a comical degree. Many BLU fans want to play their favourite job in content they care about not see it relegated to being a sideshow attraction. It doesn't help the devs have a terrible record when it comes to consistently updating ideas like this. In fact, Eureka is the only example I can think of where it saw new zones each patch release. Will that happne to BLU? It remains to be seen, but people have reason to be cautious.

Put simply, just because an idea is new or different doesn't mean it's necessarily good.

OP reminds me of those people who defended FO76 when it was announced.

My take on this is that solo content has much shorter lifespan than group content. So i fear blue mage will be do it once and park it to wait hopefully soon coming level cap increase
