Nah, you are rewarded for completing the mentor roulette, not for being an actual mentor. And as long as the rewards exist I think it is completely fine to run the roulette only for the rewards and to drop out of any content you don't like / takes too much time.Sorry but agreeing to be a mentor means your in it to assist new players, this is what you are being rewarded for, dropping out as a mentor just because the Castrum or Pra comes up is bad mentor behaver, as a mentor you are needed to assist new players regardless of what dungeon it is. If you do not wish to continue that role then your mentor statis should be revolked.

And I hope you do get EX primals in your Mentor Roulettes, especially Titan, Mog, Ramuh, Thordan, Sephirot, Nidhogg, or Zurvan EX.No, what I want are the 2000 mentor roulette clears for the mount.
You can drop the pointless lecturing. I've made my stance clear. This was a boneheaded change on SE's part and this is my way of protesting it.
I'm also not going to just stop progress on getting my mount just because they ruined 2 dungeons out of the hundred+ things on the roulette.
{That's too bad.}
The dungeons are a joke, they can probably be cleared with a light party with how overgeared they are nowadays. I'm not needed there and I sure don't need to waste close to an hour of my time in there when most other things on the roulette can be cleared in 20 minutes or less.
When I do get CM or Prae in Mentor Roulette, even with the skippable cutscenes, I know I'm gonna clear them compared to ANY EX Primal, Ultima Hard, or Odin. I will still get rewarded gil, tomes, and a win for my mentor roulette streak. Rewards that I won't take for granted and sure as hell won't squander, especially when I do Main Scenario Roulette.
Also, there will be 4-man dungeon runs that will have below-average players who will make the dungeon last longer than 30 minutes. Will you bite the bullet through completing the dungeon or taking a 30-minute penalty. It's not a question of if that will happen, but when as you pursue your Astrope mount goal.

Don't feel obligated to skip cutscenes on your first run. I've never seen anyone in a party voice anger over someone watching a cutscene, unless it's a long cutscene and it's 100% clear that they've seen the cutscene before (for example, they're playing a class that requires reaching Heavensward content to unlock, and they're in a dungeon that you have to beat to reach Heavensward content). You sure as hell won't be kicked. The story is half of the attraction of this MMO over others, and people understand that. Hell, it's probably a reportable offense to kick someone for watching cutscenes, although it's good etiquette to skip any cutscenes that you've already seen.I've always been skipping them, since so far it allows me to.
I must have not got to a "no skip" part yet. I'm up to the level 42, or so, MSQs.
I just assumed other people might not like me NOT skipping them, so they might boot me (coming from Wow, this would not seem uncommon...)
However, I've yet to do "roulettes." Is that where they DON'T let you skip them?
So you mean, all this time I could have been WATCHING them?
Roulettes are one-a-day things that pick a random duty from within a specific category, and give you special bonuses for completing them. If you do Leveling Roulette once a day, you'll level up a lot faster because of the huge EXP bonus. Main Scenario Roulette picks between two 8-man dungeons. Cutscenes cannot be skipped in those two dungeons. Doing them the first time for the story isn't bad, doing them later in MSQ roulette is tedious, although it requires almost no mental effort, so it's a good way to farm EXP or end-game currency while watching videos or listening to a podcast.
Oh boy! Has this become another thread talking trash about mentors? We never have quite enough of those.
I agree. I don't (didn't) understand what a Mentor is. Hence me thanking you before. I thought a Mentor is someone with a knowledge of skills and/or other game systems AND the desire to help others. I am guessing it's a boss/leader type situation. You know, everyone can be a boss, but only certain individuals can be a leader. It's people like yourself that need to understand what a Mentor is. You clearly don't. Believe it or not, we are players just like everyone else. And true mentors help those in need of assistance to the best of their ability or for however much time they're able. But there are times where we can't or are unwilling to do so. We've got things to do too, you know.
Again, thank you. Information like that will help me understand the game better.![]()

It happens, more often than I get these two dungeons. But since it takes all but 2 minutes to determine if the group is worth my time, I tend to give them a chance to see if I feel they have the potential to win. If I'm not convinced after the first one or two runs, I leave. Again, I value my time too highly to stick around for an hour, especially if I feel like it will be a lost cause and I'll have nothing to show for it except worn down gear. And I hope you do get EX primals in your Mentor Roulettes, especially Titan, Mog, Ramuh, Thordan, Sephirot, Nidhogg, or Zurvan EX.
I personally never agreed with them putting any extreme trials on this roulette either, for what it's worth. Mentor roulette IMO should primarily be there for new players looking to clear content for story progression, and extreme trials are not there for new players or for story; they are there for the more experienced players looking for a challenge.
I don't care about that. I'm not some hardcore elitist GOTTA GO FAST person. It still doesn't mean I don't ever draw any lines somewhere. Also, there will be 4-man dungeon runs that will have below-average players who will make the dungeon last longer than 30 minutes. Im going to quote myself from one of the many threads on this subject.
Another one of these threads.
When will the majority of people complaining in these posts finally realise that if they ever do spend the resources to fix this issue, then one of two things will happen, the roulette will no longer exist or the rewards and massive XP will be removed... There is no option three.
When you finally reconcile this fact, then you will able to make that decision to do it or not and move on.

Instantly ditch an ex roulette and the party usually collapses, easy solution. Df isn't for ex, that's what pf is for.And I hope you do get EX primals in your Mentor Roulettes, especially Titan, Mog, Ramuh, Thordan, Sephirot, Nidhogg, or Zurvan EX.
