What rewards? (I've never run a roulette because there's no way to prepare for whatever dungeon comes up).. There's no gear to be had for a level 70 in the early dungeons, unless it's just for glamour items..

You get bonus EXP and tomestones from MSQ roulette, including Genesis if you're at endgame.
Roulettes are a good way to level up in general - all reward you with varying amounts of bonuses (EXP, tomes, GC seals, materia, gil) and the rewards scale with your level.
There isn't anything you really need to do to prepare for them - just use your preferred class and current gear, and your stats will automatically adjust to the dungeon. You won't get anything above your current level.
You mentioned your character is already at Lv70, but there is a specific Lv70 roulette (for endgame dungeons that reward Mendacity and Genesis tomes) and also 'Experts', which isn't as daunting as it sounds - it's just the most recently released dungeons, currently the Burn, Arboretum and Ghimlyt Dark.

What....?
You've been missing out on tons of EXP and tome rewards. How have you even managed to reach level 70?
There's no preparation needed for any content in this game, except endgame raiding, which is not on a roulette.
Seriously, outside of initial story progression and endgame raids, roulettes are the main content that anyone ever does in this game.

Yeah, I skip this roulette. However on occasion these dungeons still show up in mentor roulette, and if that happens I just leave. It isn't worth my time.
And there isn't any other sort of alternative for getting the mentor roulette's rewards.

They should add grand company squadrons as an option to solo it imo they could make it allot earlier to unlock say after defeating ifrit. I mean the grand companys are courting you at that time anyways. /Shrugs

I don't mind it. The cut scenes are still fun to watch.

sorry this system was put into place due to bad player behaver now suffer the consequences.

Ultimately SE designed the place, but sadly this was a problem the player base inflicted upon itself. It's understandable that people wanted their tomes in a reasonable time frame. But an extra couple of minutes out of both dungeons wouldn't have hurt anyone if people would have waited for others who were new to those instances. But nope, the 'GOTTA GO FAST" mentality was, and still is, too prevalent. You reap what you sow.

Sorry but agreeing to be a mentor means your in it to assist new players, this is what you are being rewarded for, dropping out as a mentor just because the Castrum or Pra comes up is bad mentor behaver, as a mentor you are needed to assist new players regardless of what dungeon it is. If you do not wish to continue that role then your mentor statis should be revolked.

Rejected, don't gotta do anything. I'm bailing, and you can't stop me. Heck, I'll take it a step further and remind everyone that since I'm eating the penalty, they can also bail with no consequence. If they remove my mentor roulette because I bail on Castrum/Praetorium in mentor roulette, it's going to hurt Square a hell of a lot more in the long term than it's ever going to hurt me.Sorry but agreeing to be a mentor means your in it to assist new players, this is what you are being rewarded for, dropping out as a mentor just because the Castrum or Pra comes up is bad mentor behaver, as a mentor you are needed to assist new players regardless of what dungeon it is. Besides, the MSQ dungeons are so overnerfed right now there's just nothing to teach. It's a waste of time -- not even counting cutscenes -- for 7 other people to be there, let alone mentors.
The fault for this entire situation rests entirely on Square's shoulders. They've known these dungeons were trash for five years, admitted they were a mistake five years ago, yet never properly fixed them. At best they've wallpapered over the crap smeared on the wall with incentives to rerun these dungeons or overly-zealous nerfs to the combat encounters. Doesn't fix the underlying problem of the dungeon being embarrassingly designed cutscene corridors with more cutscene than corridor.
Players are going to play, and thus the community reaction is a natural and expected reaction to abysmal design. The blame needs to pointed straight at the designers that created it, that ignored it, and fail to maintain it. Five years is beyond an oversight and deep into the realm of incompetence by the team at Square.
