Yes, many made the argument "Oh just watch it in the inn", which may be an option, shouldn't be forced onto people as the only option.

Just grin and bear it people, after all the CS's do give you one advantage for those of us who've seen them a bazillion times, great time for a quick bathroom, snack or drink break.
If you're five years late into the game you don't have a leg to stand on for holding back 7 that aren't even necessary to clear the dungeon. I'd rather a new player quit over this, since it's Square's fault these dungeons are such garbage for five years and running.

They could be a solo dungeon by now, they could be a 4-man dungeon by now, they could have been rewritten and replaced, and they could just be auto-completed with the option to view them as if you were running the dungeon.

Instead Square just made them laughably nerfed and expect people to watch Netflix, still requiring 7 people for no legitimate design reason, which is a categorical failure on their part to do their job: deliver something worth playing.

    (mumble) EUREKA (mutter) (grumble)

Real talk hoping newbies quit over two dungeons is a bit over the top... there is nothing wrong with wanting to enjoy the story. I agree however that the way SE "solved" the problem basically didn't address it at all. I hate the roulette now and I don't run it, I will partially afk and read a book/play on my phone if I get them in Mentor Roulette, and I still don't understand why going in unsynched forces everyone to watch the cutscenes. (Like at least give people who want to skip them the option to do so if they're willing to set up their own group for it you know?) As many newbies are grateful, there are others who find the dungeons to be a pain and a chore because they suck and/or they don't care about the story parts. The solution is inelegant and hamfisted punishment because most players decided to flout the design intention for the path of least resistance. Hmm, reminds me of some other stubbornly anti-player design decisions they have made recently...

No. You brought it on yourselves by constantly speedrunning those dungeons, leaving new players who wanted to experience the cutscenes in context without sacrificing actually playing through the dungeon in the dust. Serves you right.

Also Eureka. As for hoping newbies quit is perfectly fine five years in, when it's Square's design decisions that have made the situation this bad. I have nothing against the new players themselves, this is merely the consequence of SE's inaction. This whole section of the MSQ has cost so many sprouts I've watched to just give up on the game, especially when they come in from "that flashy video of the ex primal their friend showed them" so they're aware something's wrong-- they just can't be assed to do anything about it.

As for anti-player design decisions, they'll eventually learn the player veto trumps any design shenanigans they can muster.

Sorry, I just got a call from Diadem. I'm back now, just sent it to voicemail.

    Another one of these threads.
When will the majority of people complaining in these posts finally realise that if they ever do spend the resources to fix this issue, then one of two things will happen, the roulette will no longer exist or the rewards and massive XP will be removed... There is no option three.
When you finally reconcile this fact, then you will able to make that decision to do it or not and move on.

This is exclusively Square's fault for designing such garbage and refusing to maintain it. Players gonna play, and SE's folly if they think they can fight that.

Sure some work could be put in here and there, and I'm not against the idea, but I'm highly doubtful they'd ever convince a director it would be worth the time and money and I'm doubly sure they have far more pressing and widely affecting things to work on.
As a programmer, this argument has always baffled me. Just how much time and resource do you think this would take? I guarantee you, they could resolve this in a single day if they really wanted to. They probably spent more time creating the systems to make the scenes unskippable than they would rethinking two insignificant dungeons.

If you don't like it don't do it!

The only way i could see them changing it to make new players happy is to make it solo content with NPCs.

I agree - and I think that even if "it's not good value for EXP per minute" that leaves out a third factor, and that's how much *effort* you have to put in over that time.

Run dungeons/PotD/etc. for fifty minutes, and (not counting queue time) you've done fifty minutes of possible intense gameplay, active at all times. That's not a bad thing, but you might not feel like doing it today.

MSQ roulette gives you rewards for the long period of time but you don't have to be as focused, or hold the party up if you want to go make a cup of tea or something.

I've written elsewhere, it's pretty good to do alongside boring housework you can do in small chunks, like folding up laundry or putting things away. Get some real-world stuff done AND get paid in EXP/poetics for your time! (Which actually makes me prefer Praetorium with its longer cutscenes.)
