I understand the motive behind limiting it to being used on beds (though as you say, that purpose has been defeated anyway).

My issue is, given that it *is* limited to beds, why not use the existing animation of you climbing onto the bed, as seen when you log out at the inn?

The current animation of standing upright at the top of the bed and lying down from that position, makes no sense. Nobody gets into bed like that. It seems like the animation was designed to use anywhere and the “limited usability to prevent misuse” was an afterthought.

If nothing else, given that it warps you from beside the bed to standing on the bed, I’d rather warp straight to a lying position.

Yes yes! My point exactly. Us the existing go to bed movements as seen at the inn! It can react to beds the same way we react to chairs near by. When we use sit without chairs we simply sit on the floor but by a chair we sit in the chair so make the same rules for the bed.

Technically /doze does already react to beds in the same way that /sit reacts to chairs.

That is, you only lie down if you are next to a bed when you use the emote. (The issue is the animation that's used to move from standing to lying down.)

Otherwise there seem to be three separate "doze off briefly and wake up" animations for whether you are standing, sitting on a chair or sitting on the ground.
