Because the main argument in the thread no longer is that the earrings share the same name as the original 1.0 earrings, but that anyone who didn't play 1.0 doesn't deserve anything from it. They sound similar but they're really not the same. One is just wanting something rebranded, the other is supporting exclusion.

If the earrings had a different name this thread would still be here, but instead it would be people complaining about how they look identical to the original so players glancing at them won't know they're 1.0 veterans.

I completely understand wanting the earrings to have a different name, but much of the thinly veiled elitism surrounding anything related to 1.0 is frankly disappointing to read.

The fact is 1.0, during the 1.2 cycle was awesome, because most people chose to snob it completely they now whinge because they feel entitled to what we got/earned.
The people who were there and played should be able to have our promised exclusive rewards kept that way. If they ever give out the legacy tattoo, choco and the original gobbuue - I would probably unsubscribe out of principle and not look back. This is from someone who has never been unsubbed - its just the way i feel. The JP's/SE seem so big on honour and keeping their promises - well we were told these were exclusive. They need to keep their word.

Most of the time I disagree with this. I played WoW for a long time since very early days and I have a lot of nice stuff that is no longer obtainable. I never supported the exclusivity of it because it deprives other players of content to enjoy.

I strongly disagree with the idea of making the tattoo available to 2.0+ players because the tattoo's sole function is to mark someone as a 1.0 player. It does literally nothing else because it was designed to do literally nothing else. And it should stay that way.

However things like gear and mounts were not designed for purely cosmetic reasons given they have an actual use in-game, so in my opinion those are up for debate.

We were also told that housing wouldn't be tied to keeping a subscription active but you don't see threads about that promise broken despite the fact that players often mention how they feel their house traps them into paying for a game they want to shelve for a while. It seems people are very selective about what promises are okay to break.

I'm pretty sure the people complaining about the item being introduced with "replica" in the title would be soundly laughed out of the forums. I do sympathize with them a bit but if the most important differentiator is kept- identifying who was there for the real deal vs. those who joined later- then it's okay.

And honestly, in the end, if there are people who don't want to share, then so be it. I totally get that even though XIV is apparently the wrong game if you want to have cool shinies to hoard and show off. I'm of the mind that exclusivity for being there at the time is not a bad thing, especially for something that had to be earned under the circumstances the original White Ravens were. If I was there and fought to earn it, and was promised it would never be re-introduced, I would be ticked off when it was offered for no investment later too.
