Ugh. I can't believe I'm still posting in this thread. This is the second long-winded digression in a row. Honestly, the fact that the topic seems to be winding down/completely derailing really makes me think that this whole thing was either an honest mistake or an intentional hoax that was blown way out of proportion. Less people seem to be encountering this "bug" as time goes by, not more. Why not let the thread die down until there is actually something relevant to the subject to discuss? Bumping it to rehash tired, old arguments that are only tangentially related to the original topic is just keeping the thread at the top of the forum and could be misleading people to think there is a problem when there isn't.

If there honestly is a bug, the issue will continue to crop up regardless of if we bump the thread with off-topic discussion. If there isn't a bug, we are just perpetuating the panic around it by not letting the thread fade away naturally.
We havn't even heard of any more allegedly victims for like 2 days. I said it and i say it again, until we see actual proof (GM conv, official response, anything really) I'm gonna remain skeptic and dismiss this "bug" other than a troll or anxiety attempt.

There are cases of people either not knowing of the forum thread, or being banned from the forums.

Last night, like at 1 am my time, someone else seemed to lose their house suddenly. They even sent a picture of the amount they were getting back because it was 3.2m, which meant the timer did run out.

Did they also tell you when they last physically entered their home?

It doesn't, the time spent logging in isn't the issue, it's the sub payment to keep the plot up. But I don't want to pay the sub just to keep the plot up. The point is that I'm paying to keep the plot there when the content available to me in the game is boring. Which is why the timer should accommodate taking a break during the lull like Yoshi-P tells us to do as Cylla said.

If I have to sub to keep my plot from going down, I end up feeling like I need to get my money's worth so I'm forced into playing XIV even when I have little interest. Each of SB's major patches has been 112 days apart. So let's take my 90 day timer as an example. If you subbed on the first day of 4.3 for the new content, then you played for that 30 days, making sure to get your full money's worth, visiting your plot on the last day, the timer would have 7/8 days left on it when the next patch hits, giving you a week to resub for the next major patch which, if you are an active player, is when your interest will be reignited.

This is how it should be. I don't mind being chained to the game as a plot owner, I just want a few more links on it for some more breathing room so my backlog doesn't keep piling up, dust and all.

And therein lies the problem. People want something for nothing. The whole reason the auto demo wa implemented in the first place was to keep houses from being locked up by dead accounts. You don’t want to pay for a sub than that’s a you problem if you lose your house. It’s all about making choices. I chose to pay and keep my house and I’m comfortable with that.

Except I'm not a dead account. If you think I'm a dead account just because I want to sub only for the major content drops, that's your unreasonable opinion. When I am playing I use my house every single day as I said before. I afk there. I craft there. I decorate it. I am always there if not in a duty or have to go somewhere else. As I said, I've been subbed for every major patch since 2.4 nearly 4 years ago. So how am I a dead account if I want to unsub ONLY when the content is dried up? That's ridiculous. I've done the "keeping myself interested with other content" method, leveling up other jobs and stuff, and it's left me with a huge backlog of games. It would be the best of both if the timer gave just a bit more breathing room. I'm not saying the timer shouldn't exist, it just should be a tad more lenient.

    Greetings everyone,

Apologies for the delay in sharing a response regarding this matter.

From our investigations, we have not found cases where housing demolition warning emails were not sent to users who were approaching an estate demolition deadline. To ensure that important notifications such as these are received, we ask you to confirm that your email address is up to date in your Square Enix account settings.

However, if you feel there was an issue regarding your estate being demolished erroneously then it is imperative that you submit a detailed bug report (either via the official forum, (NA) Support Center/(EU) Support Centre, or an in-game GM call) so that the team can do a thorough investigation. We would need information from those affected directly to ensure we gather as much pertinent information as possible.

Thank you for the reply Bayohne, but I worry that you guys missed the point. The thread wasn't about the emails not reaching players when they were supposed to (although admittedly, that did come up as well) but the point of the thread was to discuss the possibility of demo timers not being properly reset when the owner entered the house. Would it be too much to ask for an official word on that, one way or another? Even just to know that it was being looked into would go a long way toward easing some players' anxiety. Thanks.

Thank you for the response to this Bayohne, it is very much appreciated! I'm really happy to see the warning emails were looked into. I hope if there is anyone in here who truly had their estate demolished in error that they will file the necessary bug reports as you asked. I hope we'll know the truth about this potential bug soon.

To be fair, he did say send a detailed report so they can do a thorough investigation. I assume what he's saying is they might not have enough information to go off of for that?
