Which is why the timer should accommodate taking a break during the lull like Yoshi-P tells us to do as Cylla said. If I have to sub to keep my plot from going down, I end up feeling like I need to get my money's worth so I'm forced into playing XIV even when I have little interest. Each of SB's major patches has been 112 days apart. So let's take my 90 day timer as an example. If you subbed on the first day of 4.3 for the new content, then you played for that 30 days, making sure to get your full money's worth, visiting your plot on the last day, the timer would have 7/8 days left on it when the next patch hits, giving you a week to resub for the next major patch which, if you are an active player, is when your interest will be reignited. This is how it should be. I don't mind being chained to the game as a plot owner, I just want a few more links on it for some more breathing room so my backlog doesn't keep piling up, dust and all.
And therein lies the problem. People want something for nothing. The whole reason the auto demo wa implemented in the first place was to keep houses from being locked up by dead accounts. You don’t want to pay for a sub than that’s a you problem if you lose your house. It’s all about making choices. I chose to pay and keep my house and I’m comfortable with that.
