Uhm, I’m a bit confused here... Those threads are still not “Pagos is great content”. The post Gwyn quoted is insinuating that the people who dislike it are a vocal minority, and that the people who love it are the majority, but they won’t speak up about it.The front page of this forum is littered with anti pagos posts

Yeah, missread it and deleted.
Veteran healers don't care if we need to heal, but right now we don't. We want interesting things to do during the downtime other than a 30s dot and a single filler spell that hasn't changed from lvl 4 to lvl 90.
Dead DPS do no DPS. Raised DPS do 25/50% lower DPS. Do the mechanics and don't stand in bad stuff.
Other games expect basic competence, FFXIV is pleasantly surprised by it. Other games have toxic elitism. FFXIV has toxic casualism.[/LIST]
Hmm, reddit has a thread with upwards of a 1000+ updates with the majority of people complaining how awful Pagos is. This is one of many threads. Numerous people have commented their discords and FC circles have also complained about Pagos. So no, it isn't just a small group on the forums. More or less everywhere FFXIV you look, people are trashing Pagos for being a dull, boring, uncreative mess. Regardless, no one is even asking for the mob chain to be nerfed, they're asking for options. In such a scenario, you get your mob grind while the rest of us get the NM train, quests, leves or whatever other alternatives that isn't "grind 500 Blood Demons so Ash Dragon maybe spawns." If I wanted a Korean grind style MMO, I'd play one.
I'm on the side that Eureka Anemos is fine. I also said that I expect the next step of Eureka to be better.
Pagos is not this. What I expected would be something like a repeat of Anemos, but with new things thrown into the mix to make it a littler more engaging/fun. Daily/weekly quests, Key Item/Treasure NM's (that can only be 8-manned), etc. Instead it's a white zone with frequent Heatwaves making me use sunglasses (totally wanted to relive the Valkurm Dunes, SE. Jeers to that), requires parties to separate and fight their own mobs in their own little areas and finally; weird NM spawns due to apparent zone recycling (making the hunt tracker unreliable).
All SE had to do was make it Anemos 2.0 (with more neat features to make levelling up a little more... not what it is now). Instead they made it something worse.
Edit: going afk at all (food, bio, attention hungry pets, doorbell, etc) will most likely kill the chain.

Its kinda funny because the HW relic took me longer than the Anemos one did..so you kinda got it more handed over with Eureka..also the relic was always the casual weapon. This meant grinding but a grind that was possible for casuals. Pagos just means that someone needs hours per day to get a small amount of progress and hope to not die because than all of this is lost. Honestly I dont feel like this is a good way for casuals..you are not able to do anything else in the game while there and need how many hours to complete it.
Another big problem I see with Eureka is that you always need the older ones to get into the new one. So if they somehow manage to do a fine version on the last one people still need an ungodly amount of hours to go through three older ones before they can try the newest one. Thus they will fall back and might have problems even leveling in the older ones. The challenge log is a good start for helping to catch up but its only weekly and its still quite a bit of time. With Diadem 2.0 one could at least start there right away and did not need to go through Diadem 1.0 first.
Letter from the Producer LIVE Part IX Q&A Summary (10/30/2013)
Q: Will there be any maintenance fees or other costs for housing, besides the cost of the land and house?
A: In older MMOs, such as Ultima Online, there was a house maintenance fee you had to pay weekly, but in FFXIV: ARR we decided against this system. Similarly, these older MMOs also had a system where your house would break down if you didn’t log in after a while in order to have you continue your subscription, but this is a thing of the past and we won't have any system like that.
You know, I think it really can work, it just needs to not be so punishing. I mean, cut the chain in half but with more monster HP and less damage so it isn't as frantic. Add little side activities beyond fates. It's just for some odd reason, they went full hardcore on it.
I'd like for monsters to be a little weaker. They're still damage sponges whether or not you have magicite equipped, and the fact that we get no new magicite in Pagos drives that home. It's one more reason the content feels shambled. Anemos was guilty of this too, but it wasn't as noticeable when you're not focusing on chains for EXP.
Oh Yeah, I heard DPS queues in Duty Roulettes are instant, because the majority of players grind level appropriate monsters to level and don't touch things like dungeons, fates, or anything else SE has in the game. They should stop wasting their time players clearly only grind mobs out in the world and nothing else . . . fun times.This. I keep hearing "there's a huge number of people who love it they just don't speak up" but... where? I don't see them on the forums, I don't see them on reddit, I don't hear them in game in any of the FCs or LSs I'm in, I don't see them in Pagos itself and it's been acknowledged that when people went into Anemos to look for people to "just chain" instead of run the train, they couldn't find anyone. That doesn't sound like a "huge portion of of the population who like it" to me.
You like it? That's great. I wish they'd given us Eureka without the relic attached so that people such as yourself who enjoy it could play it. I have the sneaking suspicion that if they'd divorced the two they would have found that a tiny fraction of the community was actually playing it - but I'll fully admit that I have no proof there.
I'm at level cap now and it's far more casual. Can just cruise around as I please and solo spawn most of the NMs. Didn't take long to mow down about 50 worms as a black mage alone; biggest hit on those lv28 enemies was a 270K direct crit Foul. Soloing lv35 minotaurs to pop Brothers was slower but has a chance to give me light for weapon progress and I can just Sleep them for a moment if my HP gets low. While level cap feels much more powerful and less stressful than low level play, the grind is still crazy. Farming more protean for addition weapons after your first is going to be very slow. I've heard of people getting a large boost from gentle or bright light, but this hasn't happened to me ever. It's either feeble light or nothing. Presumably that will be nerfed some time, but not until the weapon is irrelevant aside from glamour. Louhi seems a big pain to spawn. We can long farm enemies through multiple night windows, Louhi doesn't pop and our instance time expires. Pazuzu seemed far more reliable to pop; did not need a huge amount of enemies killed and being tied to weather helped you plan and predict exactly when it would arrive.
You have plenty of other content to do, those of us do the relics from ARR to HW ones that want our SB ones have 0 option but do Eureka unlike last two which gave a lot of different content to do in order to complete each step of relic, even the books that people hate were do fates/dungeons & not just grind this single mob hope NM spawns.
If want any gear you've got Raids,Trials,Dungeons,24-mans,Vendors,Crafters.. if want my SB relic I got... .. Pagos.
I can say that once I finish my Pagos Relic "working step 2" I wont be goign back for any others like did with Anemos grinding more than one, Pagos is just tedious in game not design be this tedious.
A system error occurred during event movement.
