Fates just need to be more thought invoking. At least the Anemos fates sometimes had mechanics, but the problem is with 144 people, it just becomes a zerg,
and you can't see the monster or mechanics sometimes with that many people.

I am suffering from a huge lag with these fates in Eureka. I might as well just let the NM kill me and wait for the exp.

I remember the FATE trains back before HoH or even PoTD was out. Set yourself in Bluefog and go for it for hours on end!
I really don't do FATEs much now, unless I stumble into one that I can do or helping someone.

Its the only time I would say that this is an actual MMorpg. Aside from the 24 man raids there is no content where you could realistically expect to see more than an handful of players doing content together. I miss the sense of scale other MMO's had.
I guess I have a very different expectation of an MMO then. I want a lot of people to be on the same map, but not all doing the same thing. That just results in a zerg in which you can't even tell what's happening. It's just a mass of bodies spamming skills.
And if it's not obvious from what I said above, the answer to the OP's question is no, I don't like it.

Fair enough, I can see where you are coming from. In my personal opinion, Eureka should have been the open world design from the start of ARR. Instead we are stuck with only two zones to do this in. I dont think the "Zerg" will be quite as bad once all 4 zones are in (except for the most recent zone, which is always the case.)I guess I have a very different expectation of an MMO then. Not the worst way to spend mindless grind hours, so long as PotD and its like exists, but definitely another large area of wasted potential.
Honestly, if I were forced to farm them only in the ugliest zones, generally without friends or enjoyable enough people, I'd hate it. But neither of these things apply, so I despise them in concept more than in practice, though that may change within a week.

Overworld FATEs are... less compelling than they used to be, but I still like to do all of them at least once if they have any kind of story content. (Still trying to complete those Dataqi tribe chronicles! It seems to be beyond my solo ability though.) I love seeing those little elements of worldbuilding. Also, put someone in danger in front of me and I’ll probably feel compelled to help even though I know full well it plays out ten times a day.
The frustrating thing is that the largest boss FATEs need more people than are generally passing through, and not enough people care. Once our hunt train was literally ten metres away from the “Never Say Daimyo” boss that drops orchestrion rolls and achievements and we could have squashed it there and then. But no, ignore it and off to the next elite mark.
