Overworld FATEs are... less compelling than they used to be, but I still like to do all of them at least once if they have any kind of story content. (Still trying to complete those Dataqi tribe chronicles! It seems to be beyond my solo ability though.) I love seeing those little elements of worldbuilding. Also, put someone in danger in front of me and I’ll probably feel compelled to help even though I know full well it plays out ten times a day.

The frustrating thing is that the largest boss FATEs need more people than are generally passing through, and not enough people care. Once our hunt train was literally ten metres away from the “Never Say Daimyo” boss that drops orchestrion rolls and achievements and we could have squashed it there and then. But no, ignore it and off to the next elite mark.

While I don't mind doing it for 1-2 hours a day it can get boring quite fast. Also I don't think people enjoy it that much but it's still the best exp source so they keep rolling with it even though they don't like it to much.

My only "complaint" is that the mobs required to spawn fates are so much higher than the actual fate mob. (lv27 mobs required for a lv22 fate, kinda crazy lol)

I've never been a big fan of FATEs in general, they usually aren't very fun.

For Eureka's FATE train, I mostly just hate the rng pop mechanic. It's similar to what I hated about atma farming, I don't like that it could be one minute or one hour of mindlessly grinding. It doesn't take long to get tedious, and it's magnified by the uncertainty of not knowing how much longer it's going to take.

Back when I was doing those books for the relic, where you had to do specific FATE and sometimes it didn't pop for hours, I felt like this game should come with a free Netflix subscription. Eureka gives a similar feeling. Like SE wants to make sure you get all caught up with any podcasts you listen to so they designed content with that in mind.

The key is pacing, do it too much and you'll be over it quickly. Once a real train gets going and all the NM's are found and many are leveled in a week or two more casual players can get carried to level cap and contribute to the fights. (granted there will always be people AFK regardless of levels)

It sucks and I wish there was more than one way to get my cute relic weapon than doing this.

Not a fan of FATEs or the FATE trains. However, I do understand them being a quality of life tool that 'makes' higher level players still help, if not passively, lower level players. This goes for Eureka as well. So, it's a system that's effective, even if it's not fun content.

The biggest problem with Eureka is its shelf life. It's content that takes the worst of XI, amplifies it, and the end result is burning white hot for half a tic and then burning out and never touching it again.

That's how I see this content and how a lot of XI went for most of us. We would play it super hard, hours and hours, and eventually get so sick of it that we have to walk away. I did that with Anemos - ground it out to 20, stuck around to get fifty some-odd feathers, then logged out of the game until this patch dropped. I mean, that's terrible.

Now it's the same thing all over again. FATEs are terrible content and barely a shadow of the events that inspired them from other games (I think they stole this one from Rift). The whole thing just sucks. It would be much more fun if it was designed for parties to spread over the map and spawn their individual enemies, like Abyssea was.

I don't even know what they were thinking with this mish mash of different XI elements.

Outside Eureka: No. Did thousands of them, had enough.
Inside Eureka: No. I can only stomach them because it drops more than just exp.

In Eureka it's the least efficient way to level up.
But FATEs themselves I don't mind. Especially the ones with chaining stories.
