Then this would just be FFXI and would be pointless.

Veteran healers don't care if we need to heal, but right now we don't. We want interesting things to do during the downtime other than a 30s dot and a single filler spell that hasn't changed from lvl 4 to lvl 90.
Dead DPS do no DPS. Raised DPS do 25/50% lower DPS. Do the mechanics and don't stand in bad stuff.
Other games expect basic competence, FFXIV is pleasantly surprised by it. Other games have toxic elitism. FFXIV has toxic casualism.[/LIST]

The way I proposed it in the video is that the sub-job introduces passive traits to your abilities. Like giving protect a HOT, a Spike damage, or a regen like effect. Only allowing jobs to "sub" based of the main job would be how it's easier balanced over time, and allow for a "rock/paper/scissors" approach to game design, etc.![]()

The difference is that in FFXI the devs weren't afraid to make a job unique, so there was an extreme level of variety that just doesn't exist in FFXIV. Our jobs are already way too samey, so getting access to another job's stuff would just make it even more bland.
