Except they really don't? Or do I need to go into how chocobos shouldn't be in Yanxia and why a Scion of the Dawn shouldn't even remotely believe they can reason with a tempered individual? The world building has always taken a second place to convenience and their own need to pull twists out of the air. There's nothing to respect when the writers themselves are all too keen on changing things for the sake of drama. Plus we already /did/ this quest with those two individuals back in ARR, learning Drent was from Dalmasca didn't add much of anything.

The red chocobos have already been established as being native to Dalmasca. The quest itself mentions heading towards the border of Dalmasca to rescue Montblanc - so the implication is the pair of chocobos emerged from that general direction. Perhaps in search of food after being displaced by the chaos that befell their home region.

Incorrect. You can bash others all you like, it doesn't make you words true. If people are not being constructive and they're just whining about some trivial matter being blown out of proportion then there's absolutely no worth to the feedback in question.

A considerable amount of the 'feedback' offered on this board isn't constructive.

Because blindly defending the quest is constructive? Get a grip on reality.

He put forward good reasons for defending it; hardly "blindly" doing so, IMO.

I found the defense lacking. Attempting to claim it establishes world building through an obscure reference from a throwaway NPC is the very definition of a reach. Had said NPC been apart of this quest chain, you could argue it better. He, however, was relegated to the side so they could animate wine bottle cut scenes. Regardless, both parties are entitled to their respective opinion yet we have a handful of people saying "it's short!" thus dismissing any opposing viewpoint.

Look up Zepla HQs "FFXIV Dialogue Choices RAGE !!" Video. I would love to post it, but as you might have guessed correctly, it has a bunch of profanity in it. XD

Lists everything that was wrong with the Quest. Not the fact that it was boring, but how we just have to take the verbal abuse, can't stand up for ourselves and when we choose the option to stand up for ourselves, we don't get to advance. So why even have 2 separate dialogue options, if the wrong one just won't let us advance, until we willingly swallow our pride and bend over for whomever needs anything fetched?

Well, that video was difficult to get through. The player in question doesn't seem to grasp what, exactly, FFXIV is. It's not trying to be Skyrim or Oblivion where there's multiple ways to complete a quest and many characters can be spared or killed at the whims of the player. There's also absolutely nothing stopping anyone from role-playing in the game itself outside of the MSQ's. Many do, myself included. The MSQ's and side quests are on rails because they are telling a specific story and thus require setting things up in a specific way.

At times, this involves a slow burn - but it usually results in character development. Sometimes the payoff isn't immediately apparent, then a few patches or even expansions later we see the fruits of the labour. Much like how a seemingly simple fetch quest resulted in Meffrid becoming a more prominent character later on in FFXIV's lifespan.

I have a grip on reality, though I thank you for your touching concern. Now, you seem a little riled up over what is ultimately a very trivial matter. Might I politely suggest taking some time to cool off? Perhaps with a nice cup of tea and a slice of lemon cake? I'd be lying if I said I wasn't concerned about the well being of some of the posters in this thread. It's genuinely worrying when a minor fetch quest that takes a handful of minutes stirs up mass hysteria among those perpetually seeking new ways to be outraged.

We learn absolutely nothing new about the storyline, like okay Drent is from Dalmasca. Oh goodie, a npc that hasn't been relevant in an eternity has some semblance of a connection to this plot! Are they going to go anywhere with this? No? Nothing? Oh okay. I guess that was a complete waste of a plot point that fell right on it's behind. People are mad about how utterly pointless of a quest it is in the grand scheme of the story line and the fact it's not a very fun quest in general. What part of that is hard to understand?

I played Ivalice FF & I disliked it, good for you if you enjoyed it.I think Rabanastre was good(havnt tried new one yet)yet I repeat I do not like final fantasy 12, while I'm fine with lore I agree with most players that typed here that the wine story was awfully long & that this special part that is "claimed" to not come back doesn't have this place, now as far you commenting about NA&EU community not going well along feedbacks well,I dont even know where to go about talking to you theodric but instead ill say this, I cant help but to wonder who think this is good to force things like this on players. If you dont watch this or "skip..." then yea no new raid (specially if its in no context or close to barely any context to..)& I myself ran into the option that result in cancellation of the chat to where you gotta click npc again. As ppl said its poor design & if you like this that's all up to you but besides matsumoto honorificness... this could be taken away & we still would have the same route to ivalice with the same eorza lore.No ff14 isn't building a world that I can see & yes you may try to make it look like it.
