Fun Fact: If you talk to the Wandering Dramaturge you may figure out who it actually is and funny how they know the Wandering Minstrel. You can also learn more from the Allagan Node. So personally I found it to be a interesting quest.

And self inserts dont really make a tedious quest less tedious for me. I play this game and its story for ff14. I care less if another creator of another FF is in it or how he knows other self inserts. (Maybe its even worse that one part of this patch story which was written by the original writer is a fetch quest..where is the epicness?) I want a story in FF14 that takes me into the world. I dont want to feel like I am poked fun at by a senseless filler that truly changes nothing. Drest being from Dalmasca does not change the lore from Ivalice. It just gives a side character that most probably wont even remember a tiny bit of background.

The whole tragedy is that we do a shady businesstrip for a man we dont know so that his partner can have a wine, while we might have nearly destroyed our small friendship with the blind lala since he did not like doing something like that and on top of that poor Drest might have had even more bad dreams after we went away because we reminded him about his wife and home. GJ! Poor guy will be forgotten again until plot demands another part or maybe never again.

Yet considering how badly are the condition of 24 man raids I question ppl priorities because you can't tell me that the reward system helps anyone atm, yet we are here discussing about a pointless quest which has no real effect in-game while the greed only is actually a game breaking change especially when coupled with augmented crafted gear. Because no with the existence of augmented crafted gear no amount of substats will ever want me to waste hours in the raid for me to get a piece that probably I won't win against some1 that is not playing my job. This is a more serious problem because SE thought to fix a problem in a terrible way and could be replicated elsewhere. It os my opinoon that this time the dev team really made things worse and imho that's where everyone's energy should be directed

There is no restriction on the amount of topics that can be posted here on the forum, so why should us posting here be of any consquences for other topics? If that would be the case we would only be allowed to discuss game changers and nothing more. Greed option has its own topic (and I think even a few newer topics too, while this topic is singular) and a huge amount of likes and discussion. I myself have the greed thread open in my browser and will continue to post in it but this does not mean that I cant post about other stuff too. The quest does have a effect in the game. Not a huge one but its there. This quest alone really annoyed me so much that I was not looking forward the rest of the questline, also it was the final straw about my belief on Yoshidas words. When you go around and talk about epic, long storyline that is a lot like the MSQ then I have high expectations of it, but for me (and a few friends) this was such a let down. The rest of the questline was fine but still nothing epic. Together with other overselling things he said for a while I just cant believe his words anymore. The part where he even said that gatherers and crafters will play a part in the 24 man too also just went down the second fetch quest from the same writer..wow that involvement was massive. So in the end I was probably more let down by the promise of epic stories and the fetch quests stands in for that. So it does have real effects, they just vary from person to person. Just like having different amount of glamour options will vary in its effect.

So look at the greed only thread and you will see that quite a few of us are posting there too. We, as the players, did everything we could for that. Now its onto SE to take our feedback in and do something with it. But that doesnt stop us from discussing other things at the same time too.

How many more times must we say that this quest was wrongly placed in the questline? The quest is done and gone we discussed, we agreed it has no place in the questline, we are done. Let's move on

I loved the hell out of that quest because it was a total tongue-in-cheek quest poking fun at fetch quests not just in this game or even MMOS but RPGs in general. You would find these random WTF type fetch quests all the time in old school JRPGs.

Plus I don't feel bad about Gegeruju. He thought we didn't realize which bottle was the right one and tried to cheat us in the end by putting out other bottles like they were all the same and telling us not to pick "his favorite" which was the real wine.

But that can be said about the Greed thread too. We said how we saw it and countless posts from the same people wont just suddenly change SEs mind faster. So in that way we are saying it all over and over again there too. But we continue to do so because its something that is on our mind. The same with the quest. And lets not forget that its not completely just written by the same people. Newer posters are coming in it too and post their opinion which often gets an answer. They too have the right to write in this thread.

In the end this thread was created around 2-3 days ago. Let people discuss it how long they want. Nobody needs to read it and if it gets boring just stop coming into this. Writing here does not change anything else in the forum. The only thing you can say is, that this will keep the thread on the first page but as long as the important ones are not pushed back thanks to that then I see no problem with it. Most topics will stop over time anyway, even the big Eureka topic was done after some time. Which will happen here too. And as long as someone has something to say or wants to post their view in this, they should be able to. And if it gets too much, a mod will come in a lock it, because they decide if its finally enough and not one of us.

It could be said yes, but today is friday, the quest was done by most tuesday and since it's one way deal once it's done, it's done it won't matter anymore.
Meanwhile greed only is still affecting ppl today, it will do tomorrow, the day after tomorrow, the next week, the week after that, the next month until it'll be resolved.

I understand it comes off arrogant, but frankly if you stop just one second to think about it, is it really worth losing your mind over this? Ppl are starting to dicusss the context of the quest which will only degenerate in flame wars over personal opinion, because it's ppl like different things. I mean most posters are trying to debate how relevant or irrelevant to the story it was.
Frankly it was irrilevant and filler, but me saying that will just make ppl come in and tell how wrong I am to say that and it's very relevant to the story for whatever reason.
Since the objectivity of this topic has been exhausted and frankly most ppl of both sides seems to me that agree on what should've done, I honestly don't get why we are still going over this and frankly I'm not talking of newer posts in the thread.

Why are we still going over any topic that gets made? Man it's been like three days, we should stop discussing the 24 man greed only topic because stuff's already been said on it. Its impossible for the topic to continue or evolve in some manner.

One could also ask, why are we losing our head over the greed only option, this just a game there should be bigger problems in the real world. (Yes its a bit of a extreme example). I am also not really losing my mind/sleep over this. I just like to discuss points that I find worth to discuss.

What is bad about discussing if the quest is relevant or not? Because isnt this exactly the problem people have with it? That its not really relevant to it and thus why its called filler. Also it does matter because if we voice our opinion now and discuss this, we might get better quests in the future (or not).

Again I dont really understand why you take this topic here, make it off topic about something that is already deeply discussed right now? (Two topics on front page) The thread against the new rules have one of the highest amounts of likes that I at least ever saw here. It has a big amount of pages and its still active. What is the problem? What does this thread do to hurt the other problem?

If you really nothing against having yet another thread that is essentially a wall against wall on opinions then by all means. I frankly Had to speak my mind since I find this pointless, this is not a gamebreaking issue by any means and just arguing about how ppl felt about the quest context won't really have effect.
Heck I could say that Tridus point of swindling the lala is wrong since I felt nothing for him, but does that mean that his opinion is wrong simply because I don't think like that? No,I don't think so
Frankly I could say that it has been yet another time that they said AHAHAH you need that much money to buy X, with me not having the possibility of saying that I do have that money, but imho it's not really worth talking about

Now I want to specify something. I believe that it's ok coming here and saying if you liked, despised, felt that the quest was in the right place or not, but imho if you look in the older pages, there is plenty of arguing about personal opinions that frankly won't be changed. It's arguing for arguing's sake which I believe is a bit poisonous.

No, though if you look through the post history of those complaining it's pretty clear that any inconvenience - however slight - is exploited as a reason to get up in arms. Even trivial, irrelevant issues are blown out of proportion and as a consequence feedback for genuine issues is overlooked. I don't blame Square Enix, either. The sheer amount of entitlement coming from the NA and EU discussion boards is extreme at times.

Like I said earlier, some of you really would be better off just playing something else. You have multiple MMO's to choose from. FFXIV is one of the few remaining that takes its world building seriously - respecting that, then, seems wise.
