    Doman Enclave changes (4.3)

Are the changes to the Doman Enclave (through the patches, through the new quest stuff) global/server based or character based.

Server based would be Revenant's Toll/Idyllshire where the patches changed the look of the zone and all players saw the same thing. Character based would be changes to say the Waking Sands which was dependent on MSQ progress.

Just curious--does anyone know? Wondering if ppl have seen any changes to the enclave since the contributions have started (or if you only see the changes if you've contributed)

I think an interview stated that its character based, so you are the one that changes the enclave. So if you dont do things for them they wont change. I contributed a bit and got another quest, where they showed me what already changed. (Was not much) You can also go to the NPC and ask her about the changes and you will get an image which will show what changed.

Letter from the Producer LIVE Part IX Q&A Summary (10/30/2013)
Q: Will there be any maintenance fees or other costs for housing, besides the cost of the land and house?
A: In older MMOs, such as Ultima Online, there was a house maintenance fee you had to pay weekly, but in FFXIV: ARR we decided against this system. Similarly, these older MMOs also had a system where your house would break down if you didn’t log in after a while in order to have you continue your subscription, but this is a thing of the past and we won't have any system like that.

    it's personal
you do the donations quota, get thanks and do a mini talk to npc event.
It's kind of like a crossbreed between custom deliveries and beast tribes

It's a shame that the Gratuity limit is so high each week, though. It's going to become a brutal grind, unless you're wealthy enough to just throw money at it. A lighter grind combined with a pseudo-Sims game (choose the theme of rebuilt structures, choose what type of restaurants and such are populated, etc.) would have been far superior than what we currently have (so far as I can tell).

It doesn't cost you anything. just donate items you were gonna vendor anyway (such as allagan pieces) and you'll get more money than you would have gotten by selling to a regular vendor.

I don't think you fully read or understood my post.

The issue is the weekly Gratuity limit, which for many completion-oriented players like myself creates a rather steep goal. There are multiple ways to acquire enough items to sell to hit the weekly limit, but they're either very grind-y or quite expensive. The Gratuity limit should be significantly lower, or should be in addition to a clearly-defined advancement process that eliminates the sense of this being a 'goal'.

Why? I want a surplus of gratuity to take advantage of the increased amount of Gil I get from the sale. If you want to be a completionist, then be a completionist, but don't take away the reward that we are getting from doing the content

    Two things.

Firstly, it's incredibly unlikely you'll hit 20k in NPC sales unless you're aiming to maximize your progress. I'd be stunned if you hit 10k during the normal course of play, unless you're doing something that regularly awards Clear Demimateria. Nothing else sells for enough that doesn't bring in far more money via the AH.

Secondly, the issue is that the Gratuity limit is all we have to gauge 'progress' on right now. The limit is too high to be reasonable as a progress indicator; it would be like setting a Tomestone cap each week of 5000. SE needs to couple it with a more defined indication of progress, and set weekly progress caps lower.

Finally, as a side issue: it's ridiculous to view the sales bonus as a 'reward' in this case. You're getting less than 3500 bonus Gil a week, at most, assuming the cap doesn't increase beyond 20k over time. Woooooo - a few free teleports! And if Materia are a significant portion of your turn-ins, you gained even less (and possibly lost Gil) because their NPC sale price was decreased in conjunction with this content. The only meaningful reward here is Doman Enclave progression which, as I've described, is quite grind-y if the progress cap is truly the Gratuity cap each week.

I think your missing the made to be sold items completely, the limit is very low.
desynth some stuff and stock up the clear demimataria, send retainers on the 1 day ventures that bring back coins, spend like 20 minutes in eureka, etc etc
