The outcry mostly comes from the rest of the world, which doesn't care about being credit to team or not. It's mostly people wanting to keep their priviledges of being able to mostly secure loot (especially tanks, but not only) even if they play extremely poorly.
Is there a source that states that they truly only do this with their main job? Because if they care so much for team play and level all their jobs I cant believe that they would not play the other jobs great too. Also the old system still allowed them to get gear just that those that went into this with a job got the first chance. So I cant see how this will get better for them...because if so many of the japanese players need that for their alts and everyone can roll on it..they will just have more people that they roll against..

And like Vstarstruck said: Stop doing stuff for the smaller playerbase...the majority of your playerbase is from NA and EU and if you want to be an international successful game you cant just look at your homeland..

On the other side of the coin, you can count on one hand the number of people who said "I'm glad because I'll now be able to play with the job I'm the most comfortable with and be better for me and my teammates". That very thread is a live proof of what I'm saying. If you want another one, just look at how the two communities play and gave their feedback on Eureka. Have fun with that one.

You kinda said that they may have made the change so that japanese players have a better chance to get the loot for their alts..and yet you see our reaction as negative when we are afraid that this might mean that people will have less chances at loot. Its not like the 24 man raid only exist for loot right? I mean next to glamour, gearing up your character is one of few reasons to run this countless of times.

My question is: If you dont want to play the job that you want your gear with..why do you need gear at all? Because seemingly you are not feeling good to play that one in this content..

Letter from the Producer LIVE Part IX Q&A Summary (10/30/2013)
Q: Will there be any maintenance fees or other costs for housing, besides the cost of the land and house?
A: In older MMOs, such as Ultima Online, there was a house maintenance fee you had to pay weekly, but in FFXIV: ARR we decided against this system. Similarly, these older MMOs also had a system where your house would break down if you didn’t log in after a while in order to have you continue your subscription, but this is a thing of the past and we won't have any system like that.
