Not gonna requote all that ridiculous crap you spewed into this forum, but you need to get a reality check man. This quoted statement alone is so ridiculous i actually laughed out loud. 11 Mil was never WoWs sub level. It's acually a well known fact that Blizzard counted every single three hour net cafe loggin in china as a new sub.

A couple things you should be made aware of.

    1. This game no longer requires you to level multiple classes.
    2. Each class is supposed to provide the player will a full characters worth of experience
    3. Things like airship rides are designed to make a living world, something FFXIV is severely lacking because they keep removing everything that provides that atmosphere.

People who actually love MMOs don't want this game to be the next WoW. WoW single handedly killed this genre by bowing down to the casual player base. Blizzard made a massive profit, but the industry lost its respect. WoW's influence has only served to dumb down every MMO that has come after it in the hopes of recreating its mindless Casual gamer Sub haul. The biggest example of this is FFXIV allowing users to get every Class to level 50 in a single month. This game's XP curve is an embaressment to the genre and it's player created UI mods and built in easymode emnity and agro warnings will only serve to make things worse.

Good quote, but i'm not making that up. It's actually closer to 99.99%

1 in every 1000 or so MMO players actively participate in "End Game" content.

And single-handedly killed the genre? It breathed new life into it, LOL! MMOs were never as popular until WoW revolutionized the genre, it didn't kill it! Players saw the light when WoW changed MMOs from being a job into being a game that is actually fun to play!

Only masochists such as yourself think grinding non-stop for hours on end on the same monsters in the same area is actually fun...

also if you think wow is so great ..blizzards diablo 3 is adding a player based real money trade auction house to there game, how much you want to bet that if it does well you'll see something like it in there next mmo as well? and really the only way to make them real money on that type of thing is to add grinds and items with low drop rates so that they sell to players in there auctions rather then to the rmt.so all this casual no grind stuff might take a big turn the other way cause no matter how easy they make the games there is still that player base that it's still not easy enough for and keep buying it up. just like people buying into monthly bills with easy mode instead of cash shops. (same thing)

numbers aren't always relevant. if you ask me wow is just a magical veil of trickery and it only does well cause of it.

    Wow I just.... Wow...

All I can say is that I am happy FFXIV will not be headed in the direction that the majority of this thread's supporters wish it would.

It doesn't matter what you argue, most people in this thread will only retort with ignorant statements and made up statistics. Most are in blatant denial.

I really hope you can all get over the serious heartbreak you will face when 2.0 hits.

I could go into every single Point and turn it, but it doesnt matter really. I Played WoW, FFXI, FFXIV all to its peak so i know the difference. I ran WoW really smooth when it came out and had HARD Probs when FFXI came out, so the minimum Specs dont mean Shit.

Same with Skill.. no Skill for FFXI? That is why most RDM's failed Period, no need to speak of Stunning Cerb's TP Moves. Or low manning Niddy, Khim etc. I dont even need to compare pre-Abyssea HNM Fights to WoW, since FFXI is on a way higher level period. In WoW it was always Gear > Skill while it was in FFXI Skill > Gear. Of course you were in need of Gear, but you get the Idea ( maybe? ).

WoW compared to FFXI will always pull out ridicilious Discussions. It was always like that and will be always like that, so i will stay low on the ongoing discussion but my opinion stays.

    D-Riiiiiiiiiiiing.

Again, all it took was an attention span and the ability to read to do any of that.

In a stun order? Wait till someone else's macro tells you "/p Just used stun <p2>, you're up!"

Then "Mob uses x skill" *Press macro*. Rocket science, I know.

XI was always Gear > focus > "skill". The sad thing about XI was that there was one or two items per slot for each role and that was what you spent the entirety of the game trying to get. The vast majority of gear in XI was crap, which is why a DD was damn near expected to have an SH ready and waiting for when they dinged 57 despite it costing millions of Gil for most of the game's life span.

You don't like WoW, I get it. I don't either. It's not my cup of tea. But facts are facts.

But the same could be said for XI when it was released. It took 235,550 exp to go from 1-50. In XI's early days, 5,000 per hour was considered a rocking party. So to go from 1-50, the first cap an otherwise empty game, would take a dedicated player all of 48-50 hours.

    Sound familiar?

The fact is, WoW has had about 11-12 million players. XI peaked at about 500,000. Success is success. These are facts.

SE intended for XIV to compete with WoW, and with how much money they have sunk into it, they have no choice but to follow through on that vision.

The mechanics of XI, those archaic and obvious time sinks where you literally just stood still, just won't pay the bills anymore. SE wants to make an MMO with mass appeal. Get used to it. No one finds those old MMO "standards" fun. All game genres evolve.

It's like saying Call of Duty needs to be more like Doom. I know change is scary, but it's okay, we'll hug it out and survive together.

I think your mistaking the 24hours in a day with how long people actually take to hit 50 in a PL party. when people take a "Day" to hit level cap in XIV that doesn't mean 24 hours.

    *edit*

I would also like to know where you got that when the level cap was 50 that 5khr was "Great" exp.

Because unless your Japanese you weren't playing the game until the level cap was 75.

06/25/2002 First Players Reach Level 50
From the start, the level cap was set to 50, but this was not told to the players. On this day, the cap was first discovered when the first players across all worlds attained level 50.
That was a little over a month after the game's release on May 16th.

I started playing in April 2004. 2-3k an hour was the norm. 5k was a good party. At that point it was the same exp curve as release.
