I never lever beyond 10 or so. I just know bullshit when I read it and have this nasty habit of calling people on it.
Again, all it took was an attention span and the ability to read to do any of that.Same with Skill.. no Skill for FFXI? That is why most RDM's failed Period, no need to speak of Stunning Cerb's TP Moves. Or low manning Niddy, Khim etc. I dont even need to compare pre-Abyssea HNM Fights to WoW, since FFXI is on a way higher level period. In WoW it was always Gear > Skill while it was in FFXI Skill > Gear. Of course you were in need of Gear, but you get the Idea ( maybe? ).
In a stun order? Wait till someone else's macro tells you "/p Just used stun <p2>, you're up!"
Then "Mob uses x skill" *Press macro*. Rocket science, I know.
XI was always Gear > focus > "skill". The sad thing about XI was that there was one or two items per slot for each role and that was what you spent the entirety of the game trying to get. The vast majority of gear in XI was crap, which is why a DD was damn near expected to have an SH ready and waiting for when they dinged 57 despite it costing millions of Gil for most of the game's life span.
You don't like WoW, I get it. I don't either. It's not my cup of tea. But facts are facts. Not gonna requote all that ridiculous crap you spewed into this forum, but you need to get a reality check man. This quoted statement alone is so ridiculous i actually laughed out loud. 11 Mil was never WoWs sub level. It's acually a well known fact that Blizzard counted every single three hour net cafe loggin in china as a new sub.
A couple things you should be made aware of.
1. This game no longer requires you to level multiple classes.
2. Each class is supposed to provide the player will a full characters worth of experience
3. Things like airship rides are designed to make a living world, something FFXIV is severely lacking because they keep removing everything that provides that atmosphere.
People who actually love MMOs don't want this game to be the next WoW. WoW single handedly killed this genre by bowing down to the casual player base. Blizzard made a massive profit, but the industry lost its respect. WoW's influence has only served to dumb down every MMO that has come after it in the hopes of recreating its mindless Casual gamer Sub haul. The biggest example of this is FFXIV allowing users to get every Class to level 50 in a single month. This game's XP curve is an embaressment to the genre and it's player created UI mods and built in easymode emnity and agro warnings will only serve to make things worse.
But the same could be said for XI when it was released. It took 235,550 exp to go from 1-50. In XI's early days, 5,000 per hour was considered a rocking party. So to go from 1-50, the first cap an otherwise empty game, would take a dedicated player all of 48-50 hours.
Sound familiar?
The fact is, WoW has had about 11-12 million players. XI peaked at about 500,000. Success is success. These are facts.
SE intended for XIV to compete with WoW, and with how much money they have sunk into it, they have no choice but to follow through on that vision.
The mechanics of XI, those archaic and obvious time sinks where you literally just stood still, just won't pay the bills anymore. SE wants to make an MMO with mass appeal. Get used to it. No one finds those old MMO "standards" fun. All game genres evolve.
It's like saying Call of Duty needs to be more like Doom. I know change is scary, but it's okay, we'll hug it out and survive together.
