Bleeding Ifrit again...

Man, this takes me back to the days of when the only class I had leveled was THF on XI. "Can I come do this event?" "No, we don't need a TH for this event". I had to go back and level PLD because I got sick of trying to find groups for CoP as THF. Hopefully next patch will balance things so that players won't be neglected because of lack of damage dealt/mitigated/healed or whatever other inane reason.

no offense but you say you've worked so hard to cap a class and you just capped it and you've been playing since bets. you must be incredibly casual to have taken over a year to cap 1 class. If im inviting someone to ifrit and i dont know them id be looking for things to let me know how they play the game. Like are they wearing lvl 30-35 dungeon/nm gear, how many classes they have capped and so on. honestly i probably wouldn't invite you cause im not gonna constantly wipe for a stranger. if you were in my LS that would be a different story. no offense.

Indeed. I hate that the current state of the game has locked out 3 of the 7 total classes simply because they couldn't balance things correctly.

And who's business is it about how fast they level? This game is supposed to support casuals, but everything they've done so far is lock that group out, and the community doesn't help.

I've done Ifrit with a few archers. They did about 1/4 the damage of the TANK and had a hard time staying alive due to their more severe animation lock...

Wiith that in mind: why would I invite you when I can pick a lancer instead?

Its not the communities fault SE made Archer suck. And seeing as the Archer Auto Attack was a typo and they are not getting one I dont really see that changing with 1.2 for Ifrit anyways hopefully they get better but not holding my breath.

edit: not sure how 3 are locked out, only ones locked out are ARC and PUG for the most part, all other classes are perfectly viable in the fight.

I said 3 mainly because I don't really see THM going in there for any other reason than healing, and after 1.20 they'll mainly be nuking, so hopefully they will have fixed the numbers that nukes do in the fight against Ifrit. Here's to hoping 1.20 will fix things, but as you said, I'm not holding my breath on it.

if thm cant deliver a proper nuke then they will be absolutely useless. blk mage should be able to deliver the highest amount of damage. this comes at a cost of low def and hp which means they have to be able to manage their hate.

as of now i rather heal on thm for ifrit cause of the range though

Don't listen to this guy, Just because it took you a long time to level, doesn't mean you aren't playing hard. Like myself I appreciate people that take the time to enjoy what the game has to offer instead of blazing through what they "have to" leaving out the "don't need to" complaining about end game, and the lack of content. You are what this game needs, not more elitist at end game with out all the available content done.

I only said this because he claims to have a wealth of MMORPG experience.

FFXIV's combat classes are not hard to level in by any measure.

Just because one know's how to level efficiently, doesn't mean you don't take time to enjoy the view.

I also gave him some advice as to how he may pertain a placement in Ifrit Hard mode.

Haven't read anything except the OP but seriously man, if your LS is elite and shutting you out. Get a different LS. If you are talking about PUG groups, well there is your problem right there. PUG groups are usually made up of people that are too much of an asshole to have any friends, that's why they don't run with their LS. And they usually aren't that great anyway because they have no consistency to practice with.

The Ifrit battle is NOT that difficult. I'm an officer is an LS and we've run it with thaums and no cons. We've run it with more Archers than lancers (pro-tip if you are an archer a good place to stand is right next to the mage in the safe spot). We've run it with no one having Sentinel except the tank.

Sure it is much easier with just lancers, but if you find an LS that isn't full of elitist jerks they will be more interested with playing with their friends than excluding them to get the win faster. It might take a bit more practice to win the battle with Archers but it is possible, I personally have done it.

The same can be said for all content in this game. I've been into Darkhold over a hundred times and every single time I've gone in as a Lancer and we do just fine, especially now that the Ogre is a joke.

Just go play other games while waiting on all the cool (that will probably give use headache for a long time though) changes. They are going to fix(?) Ifrit's loot anyways, so why keep fighting it now? Or take the time you have until the patch to lvl any other job since now it take less than a week to get it to 50.

As people said, maybe all you lack is a nice Linkshell. Mine for example always does Ifrit for new people if they need it. If you have like half the party (tank, mages and Idk 1 DD?) knowing the battle it's already enough for a win. If they are wiping because of 2 members, they are the newbs. Other setups just take longer to win, that's all.

Sorry, but OP is ridiculous. Everyone is supposed to "respect his play style" in taking a year and 2 months to get 50 yet he openly calls people who don't want ARCs or don't want to kill extra nails just for him "elitist". How about respecting the play style of those people? Why should everyone change their strategy to accommodate someone who can't be bothered to put in a couple hours to get Sentinel? Why should people be expected to carry someone who does terrible DPS? If you have a gripe with how SE's managed things, that's fine, but don't take it out on your fellow players.

Naturally, it's up to you, but when you can get level 50 with <10 hours of work, I'm not going to feel too sorry for you if you aren't interested in the minimal effort of PLing a couple classes. Ultimately, you can decide if you care more about the content or making a stand against the perceived injustice of being expected to have cross-class abilities in a game with a class system built around having cross-class abilities.

Go ahead, complain that I'm a jerkface MMO elitist, but you're just shooting yourself in the foot. Right now it takes little effort to meet the supposed "requirements" to participate in this content. You can put in that effort and have fun or complain.
