Well, not the english forums, remember the devs need to have anything from here translated by community managers, so certain things are bound to be missed...

Though I'm not sure how much more clearer people could have been about what they didn't like without, well, having it translated in JP and posting it on the JP forums. there is a communication problem.

I was expecting a new continent to explore and things to do on it, maybe with some new story and such. Also a new, elemental themed combat system.

What I got was "grind mobs to spawn mobs to grind", technical problems, and the illusion of an elemental themed combat system that's really just "stack everything into one element and turn the wheel to whatever you're fighting so you can kill it faster".

But fundamentally? Most of the game is something I find fun. I expected fun. I didn't find fun.

Grinding is not something I like to do in groups. As a matter of fact, doing it in a group aggrivates me to no end, not being able to go my pace and with 8 people someone constantly being afk or something like that. I like to turn on some music and just get into the grind zen, all by myself. Needless to say Eureka is probably the worst kind of content SE could have patched in for me.

Grouping is for me on hard content like mechanic heavy stuff where people have to communicate or dungeons that have a clear and defined end. Maps with friends. Naturally with FCs and friends I am never not socializing in any content. If people like the... team play in Eureka more power to them, just don't go around selling it as the 'super social experience MMOs are all about'.

To stay on topic: I expected very little and still found myself disappointed. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I would be lying to claim I had any real expectations. While I find Eureka fun enough, I'm ultimately disappointed by...
    • A lack of secondary objectives
    • A tediously slow leveling system (initially)
    • The severely beign elemental wheel
    • A poor interface (No PF equivalent)

The fact I either have to hope enough low level players want to chain farm mobs otherwise I'm a rez-bot while leeching off high level player's work is probably the biggest complaint I have.

I had posted a reply for this in another thread, so I'll just try to cut that down a bit for here:

Maybe taking the idea of aetheral gear from PoTD but calling it elemental gear that you enhance as you explore through Eureka. And then putting in missions and fates similar to Diadem in to help enhance the elemental gear. Once the elemental gear is maxed out you can trade it for the physical relic gear or upgrade to another tier of elemental gear.

I recall a mission in Diadem where we protect a party member as they transport an egg, that was pretty fun to do and different from just zerging a fate or killing x-amount of enemies. In Trials of the Matron you can finish up missions by gathering which was a nice change of pace.

I even thought the puzzle instance they had during the Valentine's Day event was them testing out doing puzzles in the game for Eureka and that'd play a role.

And the weather influx that was originally talked about sounded like different monsters will appear during certain conditions and maybe working to take advantage of when the weather changes occur. Like leading mobs into tornados that toss them up into the air giving them wind weakness. So far with the elemental board I haven't noticed too much of a buff then again when your mindlessly grinding mobs in a group its hard to notice a real difference.

The current Eureka just seems like a normal map with HP-bloated monsters in it and no other substance. Monsters are just crowded together and doesn't give it a natural feel to the island and is just another reminder that this is a MMO.

Having to re-level my character up just to take part in NM fates just seems tiring to me. If Eureka was just going to be kill mobs and collect crystals, they could've just done that with the Fates in Othard and Doma. There's no need for a whole new map.

    I was expecting Diadem 3.0.
And they delivered on that, at least.

It's how a lot of people figured it would be.It's just a remake of Diadem and nothing more.I've been warning players that i know for months that it would turn out like this so i had literally zero expectations for Eureka.
In a way though it doesnt affect me as much as others.I'd always decided long ago i'd be ignoring it and anything that mentions relic weapon too as they are same kind of content.Just one long boring grind so you can get your weapon to glow XD.
I think SE should have spent their time on other content though as Euraka will probably be forgotten about in a month or 2 when everyone has gotten the gear upgrades they wanted and the place ceases to have any use for the player base.

I expected something along of the lines of what we actually received, so I can't say I'm disappointed; but I am rather frustrated.

Square Enix has been ambiguous, tight lipped, or even flat-out lied regarding some of the previous development cycles of this game.

Several of Yoshi's statements that turned out to blatantly false are even advertised in this very forum, of which haven't seem to caught Square Enix's concern in the slightest.

With Eureka in it's previous state, I genuinely vastly prefer Diadem as I at least find it to worth the time to invest towards as a gather.

The inclusion of relic weapons in Eureka doesn't entice me to bother
    with it in the slightest.

As far as I'm concerned, relic weapons have always been the same - soulless, hollow grindfests that function as ploys to keep playing this game in order to acquire what essentially amounts to overly glorified glamours.

I was expecting trash mobs to actually feel worthwhile for the effort put in, not all these constant 1 and 2 digit microscopic exp values.
