AST gets the most love?

I personally don't think AST is that favored over the other healers. Whenever I run 24-mans with a friend (me on AST usually, and them on WHM), they always get more commendations than I do, even though I did the majority of the healing and provided cards. lol Same thing on SCH/WHM. Maybe people just think that WHM does more healing? I'm not sure, but I don't see any obvious favoritism by players when it comes to the three healers.

I don't complain about getting MP support, personally. If nothing else, it frees up some resources for you.

The real answer is that when it comes to commendations it can be a total crapshoot. I've gone balls-to-the-wall in dungeons as a tank only for everyone to ignore me and give the comes to healbot#8192, I've healed tanks who pull big but don't use mitigation and gotten zero comms, I've gotten three commendations as a black mage who purposefully stood in AoE's and made the healer's life harder, and so on. Some people will commend you because you were nice, or they liked your glamour, or because they know what you were doing and appreciate it, or because you're a healer/tank and just get it by default.

Don't try to understand it because it's not a system to be understood.

I mean, the minor support I can give on SMN/RDM from having the rez and heal is part of why they are the only DPS I enjoy playing, so Manashift felt like a perfectly natural addition to my repertoire.

There is definitely truth in this^^ I've given Lalafell tanks comms just for being a Lalafell tank, IF they are in heavy armor. Can't help it. It's just so cute that the group's first line of defense is an adorable potato strutting their stuff clad in doom spikes!

Anywho, I don't play AST but have given them plenty of comms. It was never for being an AST though, it was for being a good healer.

Speaking as a SCH main, I can definitely say that no one notices if you are playing optimally. Seriously... a well-timed deployed adlo Crit just negated a MASSIVE AoE attack from the raid boss and peeps will tell one of the DPS members that they have the coolest looking LB3 :| We truly are the nerds of FFXIV. We don't have flashy/loud DPS skills, you'll likely miss a buff animation by the skill of another job. However, maybe. Just maybe. You might notice the gorgeous emerald aura we emit and the crystal shattering sound effect of Indom. I love you Indom!

That said, I've gotten plenty of comms when running as SCH. I doubt any of them were for being a SCH. However, I bet I've gotten a fair share by making her look like Velma from Scooby Doo.

Hello fellow SCH main! Everything you said is why I love SCH, lol. Definitely nerds. It's an exceedingly intricate job and we aren't always recognized for the hard work we put out. I've pulled off some crazy moves with SCH that I definitely could not have done with the other 2 jobs, and rarely does anybody notice. T_T
