I think I remember this thread.
When I first started tanking in this game, I was very traditional in my views. I considered defense oriented tanking to be sancrosanct and the idea of acting like some lowly, easily replacable damage dealer was as profane to me as flipping a nun's skirt. Gradually, over the years, I got worn down, and realized my position was based on personal stubborness; not only that, but I was burned out on tanking anyway, having played the role since 2003 and was getting bored. But when Heavensward came out and introduced me to fell cleave, my interest was reignited, and suddenly, learning how to squeeze as much potential dps as I could out of the job made it fun again. It's still fun. I don't run extreme content or savage mode raids, but that doesn't mean I have to hit like a wet noodle either. Every day is a good day to smash it up! I've discovered that people actually like it when you chip in with some decent personal dps, and a happy party is one that kills bosses quickly and brutally.
That being said, there are certain scenarios where I feel that tank dps is pretty meh and unimportant. One of them is 24 man raids, and the other are S-rank hunt parties and rare fates. Anything where you've got dozens of people running around across your screen like excited monkeys on their third pepsi of the night, yo? It's a complete mess, and anyone who'd harass a tank over a mediocre performance in that situation is an entitled little spaz glorying in their internet anonymity, safe from the consequences of having a water balloon tossed at their swollen and prideful head.
What's nice about this game though, is that even though this community has its bad actors, for the most part, it is pretty chill in these parts. The biggest jerks I've ever encountered are few and between, and the vast majority of my interactions with others in the game, and even on these forums, has been pretty pleasant. Even when I'm arguing asidiously with someone, I've never walked away from my screen and hoped someone slashed their tires like I have with players of other games. You're always gonna have power trippers in FFXIV, because for those people, this game is a power fantasy: a Darwinist meritocracy where the strong eat and the weak starve. You'll never convince guys like that to relax, so you're better off avoiding them. It gets said way too often, but that's only because it's such good advice: Make friends and play with them. Avoid people who don't share your goals, and try to do duty roulettes with FC mates. It's very easy to create a bubble of awesome in this game, so more people should do it. And if someone harasses you, report them, then blacklist them. You should be playing this game to have fun, not finding new ways to become upset.

The saying here is "Just because you can...doesn't necessarily mean you should"
when the foolish mob super pulls and everyone is used to do doing that..it becomes a terribly foolish habit...i've survived many such encounters...and every single one of them puts an incredible amount of stress on the party. Some people get thier kicks from such things...that's all good and fine...but that doesn't mean it applies to everyone.
In this particular dungeon.... a "2 mob pull" is better and safer....not to mention more common sense than not. For gutless wonders..knock yourself out...don't expect me to give you high marks for smarts as a response however.
Oh woe is you. The dungeon may actually pose a mild challenge in lieu of being entirely braindead and nearly impossible to wipe because nothing hits harder than a wet noddle.
Safer, yes. Better, no. If the tank can survive, it will always be a better alternative to mass pull because things simply don't hit hard enough. A two mob pulls basically renders all my CDs on tank worthless. On healer, I am bored outta my skull since I'll never have to cast a heal. Now if trash mobs in dungeons were similar to PotD, you could justify taking it slower, and may actually be forced to because of priority mob targets. That's how you improve dungeons. Until then, the rush mentality will never die as the content doesn't impede you whatsoever.
The snakes on that last leg of that dungeon have mini-tankbusters, so usually people pulling all four of those pulls (fairy pair, snake, water trio, snake #2) before the monkey twins get flattened unless DPS is outstanding. What was the issue there though? I haven't run these new dungeons that many times yet, but every time I have, that's how that pull has been done. I have always been either the tank (PLD) or the healer (WHM) there. Have wiped on that pull once, the first time ever tanking that, the whole group going blind (didn't know there are 2 monsters doing huge breath attacks).
Eh, don't have to troll to still sound like an arrogant hag. Also doesn't help since your main job seems to be not a tank, so it's not like it looks like you have much credibility in your argument anyway.
I haven't run it that often, but every time I've run it we've done the whole pull, and the group only wiped once (on the first time, since we didn't realise what was hitting that hard, after which we tried it a second time and cleared it). I don't think any of the groups have had "outstanding" DPS, but rather standard (have had strangers and/or first-timers as DDs on almost every run). It is demanding, sure, but like Bourne_Endeavor said above, it's also nice to have 1 pull that requires something from the group. Last time I did it I didn't have Hallowed and healer didn't have Bene and the group didn't have LB and we cleared it well, don't remember if we've used any of those on previous runs.
Especially in less serious content it really is "if I think I might be able to, I definitely should" for me.
Those kind of pulls and getting through them as healer or tank is pretty much the only thing that makes experts enjoyable for me. I feel like dying inside if people insist on single or double pulls when the party is perfectly capable of handling more. Of course if a tank or healer is completely new and super nervous and needs a slower pace, that's fine for me. But after you're familiar with your job and the content, why not try to push yourself a bit further?when the foolish mob super pulls and everyone is used to do doing that..it becomes a terribly foolish habit...i've survived many such encounters...and every single one of them puts an incredible amount of stress on the party. Some people get thier kicks from such things...that's all good and fine...but that doesn't mean it applies to everyone.

Legit question, do you think they are calling you a troll for disagreeing like you claim? Or because of your continued attitude while disagreeing?
"I disagree with you."
vs
"You're a stupid poo poo face for thinking X way!"
Part of me thinks you really do think people are upset at the disagreement, rather than you making things personal. (Of course, if you were well aware of this, then of course that's the very definition of trolling.)
