So, my FC mates and I are trying to collect data by using our first three tries to do some experiments. If anyone has any free attempts left and you'd like to help, please let me know. We'd need an account of what items you used, the color, and a screen shot of the points screen. For instance, the data we've collected so far:
- Undyed Weapon Only: Worth 7 Pts. (Used Weathered BLM Staff)
- Undyed Bridesmaid's Sandals NQ + Weapon (Weathered Arcanist Tome): 4-Star Item (Worth 7 Pts., as score with this and weapon was 14 Pts.)
- Undyed Bridesmaid's Sandals HQ + Weapon (Weathered Arcanist Tome): 4-Star Item (Worth 7 Pts., as score with this and weapon was 14 Pts.)
- Dyed Bridesmaid's Sandals (Yellow Color Family - Raisin Brown Dye) + Weapon (Weathered Arcanist Tome): Gold Coin Item (+2 Pts. to Score, Total Score was 16 Pts.)
I can back all of these up with screen shots of the points screen. So with data like this, we can start confirming things about the system, such as that NQ and HQ have no bearing on the points you earn.
Some of the things we'd like to test are:
- How much of a point difference there is between an undyed item that is a Gold Coin by itself and the Dyed version when dyed a color from the correct color family and a color from an incorrect color family. So as an example of how we'd conduct this experiment, we'd use the Songbird hat (which is gold coin when undyed for both male and female versions) and wear only the hat and the weapon. We'd start with the undyed version of the hat to see how many points you get and then we'd try wearing the hat with it dyed a white color (because white appears to be the "correct" color so far), and then one with the hat dyed a color other than white (so blue or red or something).
- Does dying a weapon give it a higher point value? People have already used a non-dyeable weapon to find out that they're worth 7 Pts, so someone would simply equip just a dyeable weapon for this experiment and dye it a color that seems to fit with the rest of the "correct" color scheme and then a random other color.
- What are the point values for non-hinted pieces vs. hinted pieces like? For this one, I'd like to try and equip items in slots that don't have hints and try to see what score undyed pieces get vs. dyed pieces, using the same method above where you test the undyed version of the item, a random colored version, and a version that fits with the supposed "correct" color scheme.
