

I suppose it would also depend on how long bard's buffs last, if they're like they were in XI, then I don't see them having any opportunity to even fire a standard attack. If they're like Corsair's Phantom roll however...Well, they did say that Archers will be capable of burst of damage, which hopefully if designed right would mean that when Bard comes, the buffing will take place when your burst cooldowns are down. So to be effective Barchers, we'll be doing buffs, and our DPS will be coming in the form of burst in between the buffs.
If the burst damage is significant enough, we may not be the top DD, but keep up with the pack, or at least contribute. (As of now, Archer dps is pathetic.)
I agree, I think part of the problem with buffs is the dev team is justifying shorter buffs with shorter fights.
The problem with that logic is shorter fights actually need longer lasting buffs because thet party is more
mobile. Unlike XI where you simply found a good camp and sat your butt down for 2-6 hours, and buffs could
be done between pulls.
