So glamour plates are dumber than anticipated...

I'm going to stop trying to convince people of it's merits. If you "boycott" the system by not using it you're leaving money on the table. It's free storage and infinite glamouring without using prisms.

There are improvements to be made, yes, but this IS an improvement to me. See y'all in game.

It is not free storage, as the only items that can be put in are essily reacquirable ones, such as salvager items, which wouldn't need storing in the first place for that very same reason. That is why most people who expected it to be free storage are mightily miffed if you call it that.

It has some uses and it does well what it does. But what it is, is free an easy way to use armory items in your glamour. And a possibility to burn items you want to use for glamouring purposes. But that's not storing them as very definition of storing is to "keep something so I can use it later for whichever way I want".

The worst thing is that even the ingame help texts are rather misleading about how it work so people have expectations for it which it doesn't fill and understandably are angry it doesn't deliver what it alludes to.

Fine, it's a free and available way to open up your CURRENT storage by converting items you are only holding for their appearance into a "log" that is usable for 90% of the userbases glamour needs.

I don't have exact quotes from the ingame help texts at hand now but I did re-read to check and they do strongly suggest the plate is something the look is related on, and no where even mention using a plate removed the current glamour of the item. In hindsigt it seems sensible but that's another point which has caused people to rage, loosing the existing glamour while the helps suggest the look is related to the plate, not actually putting it on gear.

I can see that. The patch announcements didn't really clarify that it was a template that actually PUT the glamours on things and not an overlay either.
I just don't understand the fear, now that we DO know what it does, being so bad that people are absolutely refusing to use it at all. Even if you ONLY throw things you KNOW can be replaced in it, you're saving yourself space, or gil required to rebuy it, AND guaranteed you're saving yourself a prism (past the first use of course) .

People gonna hate, people gonna like what they like I guess.

Currently mine is full of all the stuff my 70's wear, a templar set, my crafting set, my gatherer set and an absolute buttload of all the other things I like the look of but cannot find a current use for (both odin sets) . The only thing I hesitated to glamour immediately was the "uniform" I use for my squad, since it's not easy to get stuff on them glamoured. I haven't actually tried using the same trick I use for my retainer on the squadron members.

Show me where I get Nameless Togi from getting SAM again please. I can shove that into the dresser should I choose to. Can also shove in cash shop items, but then again I guess that can be gotten again for another $18 so...

That's exactly what I meant, I can't put anything that can't be easily bought into it. I didn't mean it as technical limit, but as a practical one. That is, it's usage as storage is limited since it would be foolish to put anything you can't rebuy into it.

In related note, they really should put SAMand RDM starter gear on salvager but that's whole another jar of worms.

Unfortunately, remains one of the exceptions for gear you can't obtain ever again. Either needs to be allowed in the Armoire, or Salvager needs to offer them.
But, I suppose you don't really lose out by dumping them in the Dresser. It's not like I had any intention of ever actually wearing the gear. In fact, I may never even glamour it, but at least in the Dresser, that remains an option, while freeing up those inventory slots.

The same was true for a long time for the "custom made <thing>" you got as reward for level 5 class quests. They were eventually added to the salvager purchases after people requested it a lot, it is not impossible they'd add the SAM and RDMgear there too if enough people asked.
